Entrance Preview
PUCET conducted by Patna University for admission to several colleges including Patna college. You must have to get a decent score in test for admission to this college.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course structure was good with proper focus on thesis and practicals. Our literature course was supplemented with novel prose and poetry sections. The bridged course to fulfill the gap between beginners and toppers was also run by the department. The faculties were solely responsible for timely accomplishment of the syllabus. However sometimes such plans were not executed properly.
Internships Opportunities
No there were no such facilities endorsed by the college. It was one of the major drawback the college had. But really we never required that.
Placement Experience
There was no opportunity for humanities students to be recruited in campus placement but there were many from professional courses like B. C. A or B. M. C who were placed quite comfortably. Job opportunities after the course were in abundance for sincere students as they would easily clear some competitive exams due to the extent of knowledge college provides the students. However I would have to admit that no world class or renowned recruiting company had arrived in the college.
College Events
Literary quizzes and debate shows were being organised by the respective departments in which the governor of our state was once invited as a chief guest. But yeah let me clarify you that the teacher were so friendly that even the birthday of any of us was treated as a class event. College magazine was also published in which whoever was interested would registered their composition. Our principle was also showing active participation in such events.
Fee Structure And Facilities
It was quite economical I. e just 1850/ yr for General category students for others it was bit less. Scholarships were also provided to those who can't afford to pay the fees. In comparison to other colleges of its category it was very little. The college has completed 154 years of its glory so the government provides it all the funds and that's why the college administration don't hike the fees. acting as a boon for the students.
Fees and Financial Aid
None. No one requires it. But their is a Central Bank branch in college which is eager to help students in financial inclusion.
Campus Life
Filthy, Unsatisfactory due to poor security even outsiders come and disturb the students. The college is just meant to follow up the lectures. But The plus point is that college has huge campus with river Ganga flowing on its shore, sometimes we used to bunk our classes and enjoy the session in park, library or Ganga shore. A temple is also situated amidst the campus for spiritual fulfillment.
Hostel Facilities
Awful with no proper arrangements for accommodation and potable water. I would rather suggest you to rely upon some lodges situated nearby the college. The hostel was full of bunch of rude seniors who were always tried to create hindrance in study of newcomers. The college used to be the home of the legends but nowadays it's just the idiots which reside their. So neither I nor any teacher would suggest you to reside in hostel, RESIDE AT YOUR OWN RISK IF YOU WISH.
Alumni/Alumna
Yeah they were quite helpful but they were bit arrogant too. Initially they would try to avoid you but later they would become normal.
Exam Structure
There was an yearly exam held for up gradation of students, In which I believe even a novice with 10 days rigorous effort would fetch passing marks. But it was very important to score 45 percent in yearly exam in order to get promoted to the the next year. The students never had to run for coaching institutions in order to pass the university exams. The exam toppers were also being felicitated and it was a great honour for us.
Faculty
Some like Dr. ILA SINHA were superb while few were not up to mark. Overall the faculties were great. The faculties were very helpful. They weren't annoyed even if we asked questions in their lunch sessions but yeah no negligence in completing our homework was forgiven by them. Some were so kind that they even paid the tuition fees of few students who were poor.
