Quality education in less fees

I have applied for NITs and then Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology for the Computer Science and Engineering stream. Somebody willing to take admission in the college needs to appear for JEE Mains exam. More than 90 percentile is required for admission in the college and the CSE branch, it goes up to 93 percentile for general category students. For the reserved category, the criteria is a minimum of 85 percentile score in JEE Mains. The admission process was smooth and for any difficulties, the college has provided their contact details which were available for our help. So overall counselling and admission process to the college was smooth.

Couse here are good and are regularly updated according to industrial needs. I chose Computer Science and Engineering because of my interest in software. The faculty ratio here is quite decent which is about 1 faculty per 20 students. Some faculties are well qualified while some are not. But they are supportive. The teaching method in this college is decent but we also have to focus on self studies for our betterment. Term exams occur timely. There are two minors and two quizzes for every subject in the mid of semesters followed by major exams which are also called end term exams. Exam papers are well planned which is sufficient to check the knowledge of students. It is not so difficult to pass the exams, any student studying with full concentration can pass the exams easily.

The internship offers from college is lee in number but students get internships on their own. Companies like TCS provide internship opportunities for students in their 3rd year of the degree. But college needs to improve in this field and bring more companies for internship offers.

Placements in our college are average. After the 7th semester, students become eligible for campus placements. The average placement this year was 4 LPA. TCS, Infosys, Wipro are some of the companies that hire students from SLIET. The highest package offered this year was 23L p.a. from Walmart and the lowest package offered was 3.6 LPA. More than 90% from CSE, 75% from ECE, EE and Mechanical students have been placed this year (2021). I will sit for placements after my degree. Also, some students study for GATE, MBA and further studies. There is a central library which has sufficient books for all types of needs.

One of the major reasons to choose Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering is its fees structure which is less than a lakh for the year. Fees hikes are not very often, I have not witnessed the fees hike after joining the college. This makes the college a value for money institute. The financial facility is also provided in the name of a loan on a very less interest rate. Scholarships are provided to meritorious students which are named Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) scheme. Since I'm in 2nd year so I've not got an internship opportunity but hoping to get this in 3rd year.

Campus Life is quite enjoying of our college. TechFest is one of the popular fests of our college which conducts various competitions and provide an opportunity to win cash prizes. Madhuram is also conducted which is the annual cultural event of our college. Sports facilities are very good in our college. The college has an indoor stadium named SAC for Squash, Table Tennis, Chess, etc and also has a gym in it. Also, the college has a stadium for cricket and football and other outdoor sports. It has a swimming pool too. There are more than 20 clubs in our college which helps in the overall development of students. They are managed by students and hence are very helpful for us to explore new things. The infrastructure of our college is excellent which adds more value to campus life.

There are 10 hostels in the college. The hostel facility is good but great. Hostel fees of one semester are Rs 3500 for a three seater accommodation which is provided to first year and second-year undergraduates. For final and pre final year students single seater accommodation is provided which costs Rs 4500 for a semester. Food quality of mess is good and canteens are also there in the college so if you don't like mess' food go for canteen's. If you will opt for a hostel the hostel department will allot a room for you and this process is very smooth. Also, we get 1 GB high speed WiFi data daily for free. If you want to live outside the college, PGs are available on rent nearer to the college.
