Remarks

I have applied To AMU as well but I didn't like the environment there and also there's not much exposure. So I chose JMI. I got admitted to JMI through the NRI quota and that is why my fees were more than the general students (i.e. $2000). The eligibility criteria for Bcom in JMI is 10+2 (min. 55% in any discipline). Although general students are supposed to give an entrance exam to get admission. NRI students were admitted on a merit basis. To get admission to JMI, I filled up the NRI Admission form and provided all the details required. Then I waited for the results which were based on merit and then my name appeared on the list. I was given a time period in which I was supposed to get my documents verified in the department office and then I was provided with my fees slip which I paid in the given period. I started attending the classes the very same day. IMPORTANT: Now, to get admission to JMI through the NRI quota, one has to give an entrance exam (NRI entrance).

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Being a student of commerce stream, I had the option to choose between Bcom Bba and BA Hons and I filled the form for the same and my name appeared for Bcom. The faculty of commerce and business studies of jmi is one of the top management departments and the Management department of JMI ranks 36th all over India. Student intake varies from course to course and 15% of seats are reserved for NRI and 15% for foreign students. Traditional teaching methods are used ( lectures, assignments, ppts). There are 2 semesters in a year and each semester exam was of 30+70 marks. If one studies properly and concentrates in class, it's very easy to not just pass but score good grades.

Placement Experience

2.5

The last year students are eligible for campus placement and it is then when the placement takes place. Good companies like Deloitte, Microsoft, Wipro, Mahindra, Vedanta etc come for campus placement and the highest package is 41 LPA. The percentage of placement differs from department to department. Some have 100% placement, some as high package placements.

Fees and Financial Aid

Since I was admitted through the NRI quota, I paid $2000 every year (includes all the study cost). There's no on campus jobs available here. Good placement opportunities but I did not avail any. Only 2 students were placed from my batch (1 from BBA and 1 from BCom).

Campus Life

4

There's a completely new world on Campus and you'll feel at home. There is fest going on almost whole year .. there ar departmental fests and various other fests such as TEDx jmi, spark, talimi Mela etc. and in each fest you'll find various activities games shows and other stage performances, at times there is a special guest who may be celebrities or politicians. You can join various clubs based on your need, be it dance club, singing club, NSS, NCC, Business Club, etc which organises various activities from time to time. The university also organises sports day where people compete between departments or faculties. Anyone can take part based on their skills.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

The hostels provided by JMI is better than any other hostel. One of the drawbacks of the hostel is there is no AC room in the option for general students. Also, there are no coolers for Non AC rooms. Hostel Mess is good and huge and the quality of food differs from time to time but it is adjustable. For girls, there are hostels outside the campus which is known as Old Hall of Girls Residence. There is a separate campus and it has 4 hostels in it. There are also 2-3 new hostels inside the campus as well.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well i choose this course because I didn't got what I wanted. Many students are from arts background who got this course because they had no option. The curriculum is same as school all chapters and everything. The law section is new. About buisness and law and everything. Rest is same. Changes in curriculum is not in their hands. But if they could actually change the accounting syllabus. The timing of exams is normal 2:30 to 6:30. And internal test taken by perspective teacher are according to their time and class. They will take retest incase you didn't attended.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I really was interested in finance and taxation from the beginning. This course aligned rightly with my interests. The curriculum is based on real world applications. Corporate accounting, financial accounting, company law, human resource management, these are very important considering change in the job market and business world. Not only real world applications but one can also go for further academic pursuit such as a master's degree and research. This makes the curriculum really diverse. Some areas of suggestions would be that in theory subjects there should be practical activities. Just like vestibular training. The time of exams is just right. After the completion of syllabus of a particular subject, we are given 10 days of preparation leave. The exams are moderate and it really tests our ability and knowledge based on our studies.

For placements fifth semester student are eligible for placements. Since it is best commerce college. Companies like big 4, google, bank of America, Goldman Sachs, bcg, bain and co., Sbi, paytm, meesho and many more comes. The highest package was 36 LPA this year from meesho for senior analyst roles. Average package is 10 LPA. Most of the placements take place in consulting, marketing, auditing, finance and analyst roles. Around more than 50% of the students get placed. My plan is to take placements in consulting and finance roles after the degree from the college.

The placement is quite good the percentage of students is not same always it changes but only those students with proper knowledge, experience, skills get good placement. There is a proper placement cell for this which is very active. Prepare for government exams (SSC, UPSC, etc.) Go for higher education (PG, B.Ed., MBA, etc.) Enroll in skill-based or professional certification courses outside college

The placement of my college is good if you perform well in the process of selection, as I told earlier, the placement cell is pretty active, so you would have a good number of options. I will be naming the good companies that visited my college, they were EY, Deloitte, DE SHAW, TCS, KPMG, etc. Numerous offers were made and I would say over 80% students in my batch got placed in good companies.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In open learning management.. they provide hard copy of books tk prepare whole semester and this is a very good thing because those books are covering whole semester in some books only and there is a v good thing I found... At the end of every chapter they provide summaries and mock questions for every chapter to analyse the weakness and strength. the areas for improvements in the Course Curriculum and Teaching Methods--- they should also provide a mock test paper as per the paper model and latest questions or updated topics with to the point topics The difficulty is normal if candidate is completely prepared...
