Review of SLIET as a fresher

Admission was through JOSSA counseling after JEE Mains. At least 92 percentile is required to get into the Computer Science Department of the college. I have taken admission in General Category. The admission process was smooth and I faced no difficulties in it.

I chose the Computer science department because I love coding and want to explore new things in this department. Faculty: students ratio of the college is quite good. The ratio is of 1:17 which is decent in my opinion. Faculties are well qualified in their respective fields and their teaching method is also good. Exams always occur on time. We have minors and quizzes in between and end semester exam at last. The exams need determination and continuous study to pass but sometimes they are easy too.

Internships opportunities in the college are less and students have to find a suitable internship for themselves. This is something worrying for the college which I hope Placement cell will fix in the coming years. The college organizes industry training sessions for students which helps them to grab internships and jobs.

The placement of the college is good and approx 80-85 % of students get placed through campus placement by the Placement Cell of the college. Students become eligible for internships after the 4th semester and become eligible for placements after the 7th semester. Companies like TCS, Infosys, Mahindra, etc visit colleges for placements. The highest package this year was 23 L p.a. with an average of 4 L p.a. I'm thinking of placements after my degree.

The fee hike is rare in our college. Fees for the whole course are decent and are less among most of the engineering colleges. One of the attractive things about the college is its fee structure. Also, scholarships are provided to meritorious students every year. Overall the fees structure is good in this college and there are no hidden charges.

Tech fest is organized every year in the month of September and Madhuran is our annual fest which is organized in the month of April or May every year. We have a central library which has almost all the books required for the course and also has a daily newspaper and editorial section. The sports facility is also good and has different stadiums for indoor and outdoor games. Also, there is a cricket stadium for cricket lovers. There are more than 15 clubs like SSDC, Endeavour, Mavericks, etc which are run by students under the guidance of professors.

The hostel facility is very good in the college. We get a three-seater room in the 1st and 2nd year and a single-seater room in the pre-final and final year. The hostel mess provides meals of good quality. During registration, we have to opt for a hostel to get a hostel facility. But if some students want to live outside the college, PGs are available at affordable rents.
