Remarks

The admission process was done online via an online portal. 3 rounds were conducted by the WBJEE board and the final spot round was conducted by Jadavpur University itself. I availed for the home state quota which is currently 90% of general seats are reserved for the home state students. For securing admission to Jadavpur University, one must secure atleast 60% of marks in PCM & 30% in English in the higher secondary exams. I had applied for enrollment in IIST Trivandrum (couldn't clear the cutoff), NIT Durgapur (I got a seat in EE but wasn't my desired branch), IIT Dhanbad(I got a seat in metallurgy but wasn't my desired branch).

Course Curriculum Overview

I am currently enrolled in Information Technology (4 year BE course) and I chose this course since it was my field of interest. The faculty:student ratio is quite low which is around 1/12 Most of the faculties have a M.Tech or Ph.D degree from reputed colleges in India, and the teaching method of faculties is fabulous in our college. The mid and end sem are taken as per the UGC guidelines & these exams are fairly easy to pass.

Class Size: 80Course Fees: INR 30000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees are quite low in comparision to other colleges in India, which is around total 1.2 lac INR for 4 years in Jadavpur University. Currently I don't have any internship offer as such, because the companies come to offer internship after the end sem of the 2nd year. I didn't apply for any scholarship programme.

Campus Life

There are several fests organized in our colleges such as Srijan ( which is the annual tech fest) and CIPPUS( which is a sort of freshers' party). There are several books and documentations available in the library at Jadavpur University. We are also provided with e-library facility which contains numerous documentations and course material, requisite for the college students. Our Salt Lake campus also has a large cricket ground &, a cricket & football tournament is also held during CIPPUS & annually. There are several clubs in Jadavpur such as code club, literary club, drama & dance club,etc.

Placement Experience:

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

It's my decision from class 12 that I will do civil engineering, so I chose the civil branch, the course curriculum is well and the teaching level is good but the main problem is lab, there is very limited classes for lab, so I think they should improve there.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

Review of Jadavpur University

Like my main was getting to IIT which I couldn't as U couldn't clear JEE advanced.So my next option was to choose between NITS and JU.So clearly choose JU because it completes our BE in 10k whereas the fees of NITs are really high.So as I gave JEE in 2024 my jee main rank was something around 64K (95.5 percentile) and my wbjee rank was 2341 and got alloted food Technology and biochemical engineering in jadavpur university.The process to get into our college is to give wbjee and if u are a general your rank should be within 2500 to get into this premium college....Read More
