Remarks

I was studying in the same college for my junior studies. I wanted to change my college in degree studies but due to covid situation I applied in the same college as it is near to my house. The college had sent a message through which we can apply for admissions easily by providing basic details like name, email id, phone number, etc with paying the requisite fees and securing our seat for inhouse students. The admission process was simple. The details and requirements for admission have been provided on their website as well and you can also apply through the Mumbai University portal. There were options available for both online and offline admissions as well as payments through credit card, demand drafts and cash are available. There was no counseling day but the college faculty was there to answer any queries on-call or physically in the college. There is no quota for admission to this college. Minimum marks are 55% in 12th grade or equivalent course and age must be 17 years.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The college faculty is competent to teach all the subjects. They will support and help you with each query. The teachers are good at challenging us and bringing out the best of our talents. The teachers are qualified with MBA, PhD, b.ed degrees. Some teachers due to engaging in other groups such as admission faculty, placement cell, cultural activities postponed their lectures and then teach only from an exam point of view which is really not good. The college must hire different people for admission and other stuff so that they can focus on teaching concepts more clearly. I am a commerce student, I love finance. I wanted to learn further in this field and how the government policies like taxation, monetary, etc so I went for this course. The exams are divided into six semesters over three years. It is not very difficult to pass the exams as the college faculty helps and guides you before exams as revision lectures are started prior 15 days of exams.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

The college placement cell did post some internship opportunities in the placement group. It is compulsory to do internship in the second year as there is a project based on this internship in the third year. Therefore all the students have been registered now to Internshala from the college compulsory. Internship offers were offered by companies like Ideal Management, NIIT, Katyayni Energy Solutions Pvt, etc. Opportunities for volunteer works were also offered. Webinars on acing interviews and building resumes were also conducted. The Internship that were posted by the college didn't had much openings.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees for the B.Com (Accounting and Finance) is around Rs 37000. We were refunded a sum of amount as lectures being conducted online because of the COVID situation as per the University guidelines. But the fees still seems a bit high. The college has placements mostly for third year students. There was a job fair conducted in the first year where there was only few openings for fybaf. I have applied in some companies but there was no response given from there side and there were only 1-2 openings. There was no scholarship given.

Campus Life

4

The college infrastructure is great. The college has eight floors divided into both commerce and science section students. Library is one of the best in the whole college. It has quiet sitting facility to study different for teachers and students. Novels, fiction, non-fiction, journals, magazines, newspapers, textbooks, notes are available in the library. The college also has computer labs for IT students and laborateries for science students.Classrooms are well ventilated although we have not been able to make most of this facility since the lectures are being conducted online. The college's annual and tech fest were conducted in the month of december or january. Various departments conducts different fests of their own. The college also conducts sports day and intercollegiate events where games like kabaddi, cricket, chess,200&400m races, etc were played. Just recently, the college sports commitee had seeked some new players for state level tournaments.

Placement Experience:

At TCSC placements are quite good as anyone. Even the SOBO colleges and Mithibai don't have placements as good as us. So this is why I always dreamt of studying here because since last 6-7 years, Thakur College placements have gone better and higher.

The good thing is that the college was not strict and was never forcing us to study rather it was seeing to it that it gave us proper advice and help us reach more towards my career goal. The bad part would be there were may staff which was very dull and was not kind, and no importance was given to correct their behaviour although it was evident by all.
