I wrote MAT in the month of June. I got a Score of 91 Percentile. I chose PESIT- B.SC based on the Reputation, Brand, Exposure etc.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is structured according to VTU. You get to learn the subjects in detail. Faculty are good. But, it is only the classroom teaching which is still being followed. Being an MBA student, we would expect a little more practicality when compared to the theoretical aspects.
Internships Opportunities
No, the college does not provide internship. It is the students who have to take up the pain of searching for the internship. Sometimes a mail from the Placement officer can be found in the students' mail inbox. But that wouldn't be a good prospect.
Placement Experience
Unfortunately, Placements were very poor during my batch. Hardly around 5-8 students got placed out of 115. For a college of such brand & reputation, that was bad. Some companies who visited my campus were Benz, Pantaloons, ITC, Delloitte, Target etc.
College Events
The college has it's own College fest called 'Maaya'. But, it is only Engineering centric. We were fortunate enough to have a happening batch, we organised our very own MBA fest 'Calypso' in the year 2013. This was the first ever time that a Management fest was happening at PESIT- Bangalore South Campus.
Fees and Financial Aid
Scholarship was only provided to the SC/ST students. For the general merit or the management quota students, there was nothing. This is another negative aspect about the college. The college did not help in providing any loans as well. It was a disappointment.
Campus Life
The college has a vast campus. The facilities like Classrooms, toilets, labs, sports etc. were above average. There were around 60% male & 40% female students when it comes to ratio. Workshops, functions, programs etc., were conducted, but only for the Engineering students. The MBA students were left wondering as to what went wrong. Opportunities were not that great.
Alumni/Alumna
There is nothing called an alumni association. Or, I haven't heard of it till date. This is another negative aspect about the institution. MBA department gets the second preference in everything.
Exam Structure
The semester was for around 3 months. Exams were properly planned & scheduled every month. There were 3 internals which were compulsory and students couldn't afford to miss them. The internals marks would then be calculated for the main semester exams.
Faculty
Faculty are excellent. They have got in depth knowledge about the subjects and also about the practical application of the concepts. Their experience really helped us to gain good idea about the concepts. Some faculties were bad. You find such faculties in all colleges around the globe. We sometimes feel as to how did they manage to become a faculty.
