Chandigarh group of colleges a detailed guide

I applied to Chandigarh group of colleges landran in the program BSc. Biotechnology and I am currently in the last year doing my project work the admission process was quite easy there's one thing that I recommend doing do call the college before visiting the college for admission process as they will be providing you with a list of documents that will come in handy during then admission process however the college has started online admissions due to the covid-19 pandemic the parents have both options to do admission online as well as they can visit the campus for the admissions and the criteria for admission to BSc biotechnology is Minimum aggregate of 55% in PCB or PCM. Personally speaking, I would recommend if you can do a campus visit for admission as they will also give you a tour of the campus which will come in handy for you in the future as the campus is quite big and that's what I did.

Bachelors of Science in Biotechnology is a skill-based course I would say as you will be spending about 3-5 hrs per day in the laboratory and that's one of the main reasons for me to choosing this course. In the biotechnology department, there are about 160 students and about 15 teachers who are highly qualified and have been alumni of famous Colleges like Punjab University and Himachal University moreover they all are great teachers one of them is quite strict but if you submit your assignments on time for sure he will be the best teacher you will ever meet. We have mid-term exams after every 2 months I.e. before the final semester exam we have 2 MSTs's an average is taken to assess our internal's quite frankly the exams are very easy and even if you just study during ht exam time only you will easily get around 8.0 CGPA

Placements for students belonging to the Engineering branch are great but for other branches, its quite average, and for a field like pharmacy and biotech they are almost non-existing but still, 1- 2 companies will come for biotech and pharma students max I have heard were once about 6 companies came but biotech students don't get a high package they get about 20000-25000 / month only as its an emerging field one o the companies visiting almost every year and taking about 3 students is Shrey's diets clinic. however, for engineering students, there are over 25 companies that come for placement and they offer packages up to 40 lakhs per annum and the college holds a 100% record till date. Personally speaking, I am not interested in these placements as I will be going for my master's and do research in a relative field.

There is no hike in fees you will only have to pay the same amount every semester that you paid for your 1st the fees are quite high for a middle-class family to afford (being a private college) but there are multiple scholarships provided by the state and central govt that the respective departments help the student to acquire but they have there own eligibility criteria which will be informed to students when they will be applying for these scholarships but most of these scholarships are for OBC, SC & ST students and a few are for EWS students. If you are lucky then you might get a campus job which was not an option in my case and you will be paid around 5000/month for it the jobs can vary from volunteering to library organizer etc.

Where do I start The campus is full of Extracurricular activities you will pass by almost one of these every 15 days but the most notable is the PARIVARTAN annual event that takes place every year in the month of November and is 2 days long on these two days the vibes of entire campus are on a completely different level as one day the technical fest is organized and the 2nd day is about the cultural fest at the end of each day there are performances for famous singers like Badshah, Hardy Sandhu, kulwinder billa, Satinder Sartaj and many more performances by students that will just empower you with tons of energy coming to academics there is an individual library at almost every block but there is also a central library with almost every book that you will need for your entire curriculum throughout the years each classroom has a projector and there are multiple societies for the students to join like drama society to identity there inner talent and there's also as sports club.

CGC, Landran is considered to provide the best hostel facility throughout Punjab as its hostel food is one of the best in quality each weak has a fixed schedule which is updated every Sunday evening on the mess notice board we are provided with 4 meals a day and a student is given choice to choose between a 2 seater,3 seaters, 4 seaters, 5 seaters AC- or non-ac and the charges will be changed as applicable hostels are quite Expensive just considering the fact that you go for a 4 seater non-ac room you will be paying around 45000/semester but still, you will be getting a lot of comforts and a place better than home because of the people you will be meeting there.
