Remarks

I have applied for colleges in Lucknow University, Delhi University, Gujarat University and BHU. I did not pick out any of those colleges given they were slightly expensive and also with the marks that I got I found GCCBA fit for my studies. I am doing B.COM(H) programme. I did not apply for any quota to take admission in the college. However, the quota provided are:3% seats are reserved for PWD candidates in each categories. 5% relaxation of marks is allowed as per existing Govt. rules. Any person seeking admission through these quotas must have the suitable certificate not older than a year. The admission procedure begins after the declaration of 10+2 results .The minimum required age is 18 years and maximum of 21 years . The candidates seeking admission must have pass the 10 + 2 exams or equivalent exams : For unreserved candidate total of 75% and 60% in subjects required and as for reserved candidates 10% relaxation for OBC-A &OBC -B .SC &ST are provided 25% relaxation.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose B.COM(H) as an under graduate course because it has a wide scope and provides with in- depth knowledge. It opens the door to various career paths providing basis for the courses like MBA , CS , CA, CMA , CFA and many others. There are about 90 students per class and total of 549 seats are available as per Govt. The faculty is supportive and upright. The teaching methods are tactful. The Professors are adequately qualified, most of them holding masters degree. The exams in the semester under CBCS were mostly conducted as MCQ excluding accountancy.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Various companies offer internships to students ranging from 1 year to the final year with a stipend starting from INR 1000 per month (varies from company to company). Some offered internships are totally performance-based.

Placement Experience

The college has a well-developed placement cell which takes care of the placement of the students. The students after completing semester 6 without any arrears in any previous semesters becomes eligible for placement. Student gets placed any various in multinational corporations like Deloitte. And banks like Axis bank , HDFC bank, etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is feasible. With only INR 1200 per year. The college provides financial assistance to its students under several schemes such as post matriculation scholarship provided to SC and ST students, scholarship under Central Sector Scheme (CSS), West Bengal Merit-cum-Means Scholarship, etc. Besides, scholarships and cash prizes are given to economically weak students from different sources such as N.R. Bardhan Endowment Fund, Goenka College of Commerce and Business Administration Ex-Students’ Association, Late Labanya Prabha Bardhan Memorial Fund.

Campus Life

4

The college organizes a college fest named "QUEST " every year. The college houses an enriched library. The library is partly automated with a computerized catalog of books and print journals. The library has a massive collection of books. It also subscribes to the hard copies of different journals and some e-journals, which can be accessed by the faculties to enable them to enhance their knowledge relevant for classroom teaching as well as for research work. There are both outdoor and indoor games provided by the college outdoor games include cricket, football, and athletics. Indoor games include chess carrom tennis etc. played regularly. There are two separate rooms for boys and girls for indoor games.

Placement Experience:

Placements were not there earlier. But our batch was the first one to get placement at St Joseph's College Darjeeling. To be honest It is not a college you should target if you are looking for placement. The companies were too small . The roles are way to entry level . Highest placement was around 40000 per month but it was an inside sales role so many opt out. There is not official data about placement . My plan was to look for off campus jobs.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the course the b.com because I want to become the CA but after completing the graduation my family condition was not very good so I quit my studies and searching for the job. My dream was after B.com then I complete M.com then CA but I couldn't do that. I'm pursuing because I'm interested in understanding how businesses work and want a solid foundation in commerce and finance. It opens up various career paths in accounting, finance, management, and more. Plus, it's a versatile degree that can lead to professional certifications like CA, CS, or MBA.
