Entrance Preview

TNPCEE - Entrance examinations conducted by Tamil Nadu Department of Technical Education (DOTE). During my time, the entrance exam was a tough one to crack but relatively comfortable to students studying in the CBSE and other syllabi. It has changed over a period of time and now, with NEET coming to the fray, the situation may change a bit. The selection process is always fair, meritocratic and per established norms.

Internships Opportunities

During my period of study, PhD courses were minimal. Students studying M.Tech via GATE got a stipend. The college didn't have enough endowment to provide a stipend. All scholarships and stipend given were largely TN State and central government based.

College Events

4.5

We had a lot of extracurricular events. Internal college fiesta, department level, Inter-college fiesta. On technical events, every department had its own internal and external events. This gave a chance for the students to build entrepreneurial skills and technical astuteness and relevance.

Fees and Financial Aid

None, During my period of study, PhD courses were minimal. Students studying M.Tech via GATE got a stipend. The college didn't have enough endowment to provide a stipend. All scholarships and stipend given were largely TN State and central government based.

Campus Life

4

During my period, the ratio was very limited - Almost 95:5 male: female ratio. This was largely due to a lack of a ladies hostel. Of late, this has improved very well. However, the situation is definitely not on-par with global ratio we see. From a faculty standpoint, the ratio is better. The college has stood away from political or economic affiliation or other contentious elements as the focus is mainly on academics.

Exam Structure

For theory papers, exams were invigilated final written exam covering 75 marks. Other 25 marks were allotted based on performance in mid-term tests and assignments. For the lab, it was a problem-solving exam with 25 getting allotted via mid-term tests. Most of the exams were chilled out one for well prepared.

Admission

I got through - TNPCEE - Entrance examinations conducted by Tamil Nadu Department of Technical Education (DOTE). During my time, the entrance exam was a tough one to crack but relatively comfortable to students studying in the CBSE and other syllabus . The administration office was very cordial, supportive and brilliant for my admission.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Specific schedule is not followed in college regarding the academic and co curricular activities. Sudden decisions will be taken by the management which is a bit difficult for the students and faculty too. There were times where faculties are fed up of management rules and decisions.

Placement Experience:

1.) Placement begins from the pre-final year and we are allowed to apply for companies from the final year. 2.) Around 70% of the class gets placed in reputed companies with an average CTC of 4-8 LPA. 3.) Along with core biotech companies, many IT companies are also hiring students at a very decent package. 4.) I plan to pursue a master's after this course.
