Kirori Mal College is a renowned and prestigious institute established in the year 1954. Accredited by NAAC with 'A++' grade as well as good NIRF rankings make this DU college a great place to study. KMC offers more than 40 courses in different fields of science, commerce and arts. For BCom(Hons), the candidate must pass the 12th examination with at least 45% aggregate marks. Additionally, the student has to also pass Mathematics/Business Mathematics in the 12th examination. Cutoff for BCom(Hons) usually begins with 98% and comes down a little bit in the further cutoffs.
Course Curriculum Overview
Curriculum of BCom(Hons) focuses on developing the overall skills of a student by providing practical knowledge as well. But the faculty of KMC is not upto the mark. They usually pay less attention to the doubts of the students and hence, it gets quite difficult to understand the curriculum. Because of this reason, students have to put major efforts into their own to score good SGPA in the end semester exams. The faculty to student ratio is 1:10. For internal assessments, assignments and tests are used to evaluate a student's performance.
Internships Opportunities
When it comes to internships, the placement cell of KMC gives different sorts of opportunities to students. From digital marketing to business analytics, multiple job roles remain available to students to pick from. Different companies bring internships with stipend amount ranging from INR 5000 to INR 16000. Other job roles such as content writing, social media marketing, and finace are also offered by internship companies.
Placement Experience
Avenues, the KMC placement cell, helps to bridge the gap between corporates and students who wish to be a part of the corporate world. More than 50 companies visit the campus every year, including some big names like Deloitte USI, McKinsey, BNC, EY GDS, and DE Shaw. The highest package is INR 14 LPA and the average package is INR 7 LPA. Usually, 10% of applicants are hired by companies for different job positions.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees of the KMC is feasible. For three-year programme of BCom(Hons), the fee is INR 40,425. The hike in fees usually not occurs. The hostel fees at KMC is INR 12000 per month and facilities are very good. However, the electricity charges have to be paid separately. But overall, the KMC hostel is worth the cost.
Campus Life
Renaissance is the annual fest of KMC that is usually organised in the month of February or March every year. A large number of books are available in the library that students can issue as per their needs. However, the classroom infrastructure is not so good. When it comes to extra-curricular activities and sports, several societies provide opportunities for students to become a part according to their interests.
