The research funds are more hence opportunities to work on real time projects, the quality of other students, the brand value of the college and the program is inexpensive. The college puts a lot of focus on extra curriculars. The Professors are very knowledgeable and are always available to havr a chat or support you for a project.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is amazing, they are very flexible to adapt to the progressing world and the faulty is extremely knowledgeble. Some books written by NITK professors are referred by colleges across Karnataka and India
Internships Opportunities
ExxonMobil as a technical sale intern. The stipend was 25,000 per month. I did market research by talking to a 50+ vendors of the company. Then strategised a plan that when implemented would increase sales tremendously.
Placement Experience
Campus internships start from 5th sem and many get PPOs. Campus placements start from 7th sem. Some of the companies that visit include Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, HSBC, Wells Fargo, Arcesium, L&T, Amazon, ExxonMobil. IT/Software companies pay an average of 14 Lakhs and highest pay is around 50 lakhs. For core companies, a lot of PSUs pay around 16 lakhs with highest below 20 lakhs. If not for the pandemic, apart from people going for higher studies, more than 97% of the students get placed. I got selected to work as a data analyst at HSBC.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Every Indian automatically receives education at a subsidised rate. (Indians pay 1.25 Lakhs for tuition fees per year against 5 Lakhs for foriegn nationals/NRIs). Need based scholarship is also provided.
Campus Life
There is a dedicated fund for student activities, so, enough cultural and extra-curricular is guranteed. The library is well stocked with offline books and a completely digitized library to borrow soft copies. There is at least one club for every field of interest from sports and debating to Non profit. If not, one can always get approvals to start a new one.
Hostel Facilities
For the 1st year, the rooms are shared by 3 people, 2 people in 2nd year and single rooms for 3rd and final year. There are around 12 messes in college to choose from depending on the cuisine and whether your are a vegetarian, eggitarian or a non-vegetarian.
Admission
Yes, JEE mains (Joint Entrance Examination) This is a standard exmination that lets you enroll into various institutes including NITs, IISc and IISER. The exam test your kmowledge, quantitative skills and concept clarity in Chemistry, Physics and Maths.
