Remarks
I chose Delhi University and that too SGTB Khalsa College because of the wholesome experience that the north campus provides you. With the topmost college arround your college, you get to interact with great people attend great sessions and live the actual DU life. That was the reason why I left the other two colleges as one was in South campus and the other i.e IPCW was off campus. Other than that the faculty of Khalsa College is most ly good especially of the political science stream. They also have a hostel but it is only for girls, the boys hostel is under construction. However I'll advise you to explore the PG and private hostels in Vijay Nagar as they are cheap and they usually don't have a deadline ( as in the college hostel it's 7pm which is quite early). The college is one of the costliest in Delhi University. It doesn't have the usual red bricks aesthetics that the other Colleges have. Nearest to the metro. Canteen is just fine, the nearby tapri is better. There are some good societies like the theatre society, the MUN society, civil services society, debating society, gidda society and many more. The diversity is a little less as it is a Sikh minority college. Other than that a bonus point is that it is fully air-conditioned.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose Political Science hons. As I wanted to go for civil services. Other than that you can also go for masters in political science. We had around 80 students in our batch. Since everything is online now our college uses it's own portal to conduct classes. As it is in every college there are some faculty members that you might not get along but overall the faculty is great. Discussions and Debates on different ongoing issues was a common thing in our classes. We had our exams on time and they are not that difficult you just need to go through the previous year questions and make your notes accordingly.
Placement Experience
As I was from political science background, there are some placements available only in your 6th term. Those were from some educational institutions or media firms. There are also some research firms that offers internships. However you can apply for your Master's programs in other colleges or in Delhi University.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The placement cell is quite good so there is a good chance of placement. Although in my subject the the chances are relatively low there are some companies like media firms and teaching institutions that hire but political science graduates usually prefer internships in between the course. As I did with some NGOs.
Campus Life
As I wrote earlier there are plenty of society to choose from. Being a part of the society will help you grow, it'll give you a chance to interact with students of other streams and colleges. And in this college you'll get the opportunity. As attendence is not a big issue you can balance your time between the societies and classes. We have one of the biggest stadiums and auditoriums in DU. Our college is known for the sports background, a lot of alumnis are great sports persons. With many popular punjabi singers as the chief guests, the annual fest lashkara is also quite popular.
Hostel Facilities
I rented a PG in Vijay Nagar. The locality was great. It was near Hudson lane so there were a lot cafe's to explore. Not just that all the other necessities were available nearby. The rent was 6500/month excluding food and electricity bill.
Admission
No there was no. Interview or GD. However if you are applying form any quota like ECA for debate, drama, dance and so on than you will have to give an interview or audition. It'll be examined by the society head and convenor.
