I had appeared for AIEEE and scored 95 marks getting admitted in IT department at the time of BE, then I chose EXTC for ME through GATE score. I opted for RAIT, considering it has a perfect blend of fun and knowledge.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course and curriculum are decided by Mumbai University, so it is pretty wide in scope. However, someone who seeks to go for research in future may not be satisfied, since as the academia progresses, one has to delve into multiple subjects at once, rather than concentrating on his/her particular interest in depth.
Internships Opportunities
The college does not provide internships, the placement cell does not help in looking for M E internship years. However, they are very supportive of outhouse projects and one can find such projects for themselves. There is TA facility in college for 2 students each course but most of the work related to TA is less LAB, more drudgery.
Placement Experience
RAIT is well known for it's almost 100% placement track record. Most of the ojbs are allotted in IT sector, service and outsourcing related companies such as Infosys, TCS, have mass recruitments from RAIT. There are good high tier companies such as JP Morgan, Indus Valley, Nomura and GE as well, but they select fewer students.
College Events
We have technical festivals twice a year, both semesters by various communities such as CSI, ITSA, IETE and IEEE. There is a unique state level and national level cultural festival also. IT encourages students for driving their acumen into extra-curricular as well.
Campus Life
Campus life is famous for RAIT. The gender ratio is equal and many girls have topped the list of both academic and extra curricular achievements. RAIT celebrates freshers, send offs, Ganpati and other religious festivals also. It is a wholesome family environment to be in.
Alumni/Alumna
RAIT Alumni website is there, many events occur even after you graduate. Recently there were reunions in SF for RAIT batches, so they help in reconnecting and networking amongst our peers.
Exam Structure
Exam structure is as per standards of Mumbai University, thus there is a month allotted for exam proceedings. Every subject preparation gets ample time, between two exams, almost 4 to 6 days so exams aren't a burden onto the children.
Admission
I got admission through DTE centralised application process applicable for Mumbai University. This institute was listed as A grade accredited in the prospectus booklet given by DTE at the time of admission. It was the most suitable considering my location and the fees.
