Remarks

Wonderful social life we had enjoyed at PEC. We had over 10 offical clubs and societies, and more than a dozen unofficial societies. We had PEC Fest, Tech Fest, other regular events, we had a happening sector 11 market of chandigarh just a few walks away from our hostels. natural chandigarh beauty with lively environment. In total, I enjoyed my days at PEC, and I miss those wonderful days.

Entrance Preview

Punjab Engineering is a good college with live environment, and good facilities. Area wise it is approx 146 acre which is far less compared to any IIT or reputed NIT/BITS, yet good enough to enjoy the college life. I am a 2009 batch passout, when the global economical criris hit the placement market drastically. Yet, we were able to manage and get good placements, and in this regard, our Training & Placement cell helped a lot. In our batch, 2005-2009, PEC introduced SGPA and CGPA system, optional six months internship during 6th semester of B.E. ( I did intern at K.U.Leuven Belgium with a handsome stipend amount), introducing interdisciplinary courses like Mechatronics, ( I still remember the book by W. bolton in our first year), 4 courses in Humanities, many student-centric activities, which built in all of us a true professional.

Placement Experience

4

Placements have been great as far as economic condition is concerned in 2009, and we all had atleast one job with minimum package of 3.15 lac/annum in our hands. I strongly believe that these would have been much better with better options, if the economics of the globe were not that. In our Metallurgical Engineering stream, we had highest placement offer from Hero Honda with a package of 6 lac/annum in core field.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees was not as low as IIT or NIT but not as much as of private colleges. My total financial expenditure including hostel fees, mess charges, college fees for four years was approx 2.5 lac.

Campus Life

4.5

Infrastructure is a backbone of college, and credit would definitely goes to the architect of chandigarh. The aura is fantastic inside college, and would definitely give you a feeling of other world.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Accommodation was separate for boys and girls with single occupancy rooms for all 4 years. In our times, wi-fi was very limited but by the end of our journey, we have been able to access internet in our rooms. Food has definitely been a big reason of my weight increase, as 3 times food with a starting journey with Aloo-Paratha and butter with a glass of chai/milk, and many other options and that too in a pretty economical monthly bill of 800 rupees, would definitely be student-friendly.

Faculty

3.5

In Academics, I would rate PEC as above average institute, as our faculty had lot of potential but facilities were limited, and we used to take help from professors from other colleges/institutes.

Placements of this college is better than many tier 2 NITs . Students are eligible for placement in 8th semester. If we talk about the top companies visiting PEC, these are Apple, Google, Microsoft, American Express, McKinsey, JP Morgan etc.
