Remarks
I was perhaps getting lower branches of NITs like DGP or colleges like DTU(Environmental Engineering). I was getting BITS PILANI civil or chemical. The reason for choosing JU over these colleges is the fees JU gives the bachelors degree at 12K for 4 years and the placement report. When I joined the college JU EE's highest placement was 65LPA and the average was 10-11LPA. Also, the thing which the college is proud of is the alumni base we have a 100%tiler from our college and fortunately, he is from JU EE. Also, VISA's president is from JU EE. The alumni base is spread all around the world and this is the best part of our college. I was from General Category. The admission criteria are simple, you have to appear for WBJEE and your maths, science score on boards must be greater than 60%. The admission process is nothing different than the normal counselling like the JOSAA.
Course Curriculum Overview
The best option according to the previous year cutoff was JU EE. Also, Electrical being circuital branch gives a wide option to choose your field of interest. The faculty to student ratio is the best part 1:11 approximately. Most of the teachers have their doctorate degree and are perhaps the most hardworking professors a college can have. They involve in various projects with the students. Termly exams are not that difficult if you have paid enough attention to the teachers during the semester classes. Also, you will be provided with PYQs so that you can refer to that Question Bank if you face any kind of problem.
Internships Opportunities
There are various companies for various roles in internships. Like Amazon for the SDE role. While PWC hires for a consultant role. And Tata Steel, Metallics, Reliance hires them for an engineering role. It depends upon the candidate for the role he chooses in his life.
Placement Experience
From the 7th semester, students are eligible for the placements. Various companies come for placement. Naming the big one's Google, Amazon, Mircosoft, DE Shaw, Deutsche Bank, Well's Fargo, ZS Associates, Gup Shup, PWC, Goldmann Sachs, and much much more. The highest package offered is 65 LPA while the lowest is 3.66 LPA. In JU EE approximately 95% of the students get placed(people who only sit for the placements). I am not sure about my plans after I get the degree I am yet to discover the path I will be in.
Fees and Financial Aid
JU gives the best Return on Investment in the world(in the field of Engineering). 4 years of Engineering costs only Rs.11L. There is no hike in fees. People don't remember when was there the last hike in fees. Also, people from not so privileged backgrounds get scholarships. And after 4 years of your Engineering, you are assured with a Job. So yes if you have opted for this college you are more or less in a safe zone.
Campus Life
There are 3 cultural fests in the college named Sanskriti by 3 different Unions viz. Engineering, Arts, Science. Sanskriti is the month of April There is a tech fest named Srijan. Also, dept with big batch strengths conduct their fests JU EE's tech fest goes by the name Convolution which is one of the biggest in Eastern India. The library has plenty of books and the fine for the book is literally in pennies i.e Rs 0.03 for each day which probably helps you to keep the book for the whole year. The classroom is completely air-conditioned with a podium for teachers. Sports is the place where JU rocks it has every sporting facility in the college. There are various clubs and society like Chess Club, Quiz forum, Science Club, E-Cell, Drama and Dance society and much much more.
