Remarks
I applied for Jadavpur University alone, because my rank was good. It is based on WBJEE rank. The admission criteria is a valid WBJEE rank within 5000 and marks of 60% in 12th. The admission process was smooth, but it was very lengthy.
Course Curriculum Overview
The professors are excellent with a PhD as the minimum qualification. I chose this course because of my research interest. The student-teacher ratio in B.E. in mechanical Engineering is about 7:1. The term exams are moderate and monthly exams are also conducted.
Internships Opportunities
I am in my second year now. I have not done any internships to date. but I have already completed two projects. And one of the projects is selected in ISHRAE ISPG this year with a grant of Rs. 50000.
Placement Experience
From the 6th semester, students are eligible for campus placements. Many companies visited the campus. Reputed companies like Google, Amazon, Adobe, Microsoft, ONGC, HPCL, Atlassian, Texas Instruments, Samsung, Gail, IOCL are some to name a few. The highest salary offered is offered by Google and the average salary is about 9.5LPA. The average percent of students getting place dis about 83.5% and for the Mechanical department alone it is 92% in 2021. My plans are to do higher studies abroad.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees structure is one of the best in the country. It is Rs. 120000 for the entire course of 4 years. But for IT it is Rs. 150000. Many scholarships are also provided, like Siemen scholarships and Central Scholarships.
Campus Life
An annual fest is conducted in the month of May every year and also an annual tech fest in the month of November is conducted every year. The library is well equipped with lo8ts of books and journals. Although the e-library facility is not well developed. Sports facilities are also available and two large grounds are also available. Many clubs are also present like Chess club, mountaineering club, dance and drama club, music club, IEEE, ISHRAE, Motorsports club and many more.
