Remarks
Our counseling was conducted by WBJEEB, we had 3 counseling rounds. I had applied for Jadavpur University all BE courses except CE, ME, MME, FTBE, Pharmacy, ConstE and Kalyani Government Engineering College (CSE). We have to list the priority order of the colleges along with the courses. After the result of round 1, Students were alloted collges with respect to their priority order and rank. Now we have to pay the fee of the alloted college, for JU it is Rs 5000. Next, there were 2 options - freeze seat (no upgradation) and apply for upgradation. After the 3 rounds, college published a notice on their website about the students alloted to fill the registration form on the FET site. After 2 weeks of filling the registration form, the respective roll number sheets of the respective departments were published.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is designed to target the core sector. One can understand the principle design of analog systems which we are using at home, we can also test for the accuracy of daily life instruments. An engineering thinking cannot develop if Electronics is not in your curriculum. The faculty of IEE in JU is very experienced, PhDs from IISc B and IIT KGP. They have vast experience and knowledge in both professional as well as the research field of the subject. We have 2 class tests in our curriculum followed by the end semester test.
Internships Opportunities
Companies like Amazon, Wells Fargo and other companies provide internship to students in FTE and SDE role. Texas Instruments, Samsung and other core companies hire analog and digital Engineers. There are also roles of consultants, analysts offered by different companies. There are no stipend internships available in our campus
Placement Experience
Around 90% of students are placed in JU with the percentage in IT and CSE department being 98%. The highest CTC offered is 58 LPA to 3 students. Reputed companies like Google, Amazon,Texas Instruments,Wells Fargo, Microsoft, Atlassian, Samsung and many more visit our campus for hiring. PSU's like GAIL,IOCL,ISRO etc also recruit students in the final year. After the degree my prime goal is to work with ISRO
Fees and Financial Aid
The course fee is minimal, just Rs 2500/year. Something that most of us can afford to pay. The college also provides opportunities of scholarships for needy students. The campusing and intership opportunities in JU is the second-best of West Bengal but considering the course fee, it is extraordinary.
Campus Life
Annual Fest is Sanskriti, one of the best college fests hosted in West Bengal. There are also monthly and half-yearly fests organized and seniors organize Freshers fest CIPPUS for their new juniors. There are 2 libraries in our campus having a plethora of books to chose from, the library is well maintained. The classrooms are spacious and big and its a treat to study when your professor is delivering a lecture for you. There are monthly sports challenges for students (both indoor and outdoor) followed by the annual sports meet. There are various clubs and societies and being a part of one is a must for every1. We have E-Cell, IEEE, DevHub, Science Club, Music Society, Philomath society, and many more. Each club and society organize sessions, webinars and events for the students along with some cash rewards too. It is one of the most integral part of JU co-curricular activities.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel forms are available on the website as well as in the dean's office. We need to fill them and submit it along with the valid documents. The hostels are affordable as the price for rent and electricity is Rs 25 and 15 respectively. Also, food is available for only Rs 1000/month. There are PGs and Flats available nearby but the cost of them is very high. Hostels have limited seats and the criteria for admission to hostels is the distance from campus and family income. You have to give an interview after your name is shortlisted for a hostel.
