Remarks

As I have given wbjee and my rank was 10030 with general caste. So first I have to go for 3 councelling rounds in which I was not selected thereafter I applied for decentralized councelling in Ramkrishna Mahato Government Engineering and my name came on merit. Then I was called for direct admission counseling in college on 12th December 2020, where I have to provide my supporting documents and I got admitted.

I chose Computer science and engineering because I have an interest in coding and I want to see myself as a software engineer in the future so to achieve that I chose my path as CSE. The student and faculty ratio is approximately 10:1. The faculties are mastered in different fields and they provide us with the best knowledge. They give their 100% to teach us even in this covid situation. Our terms exams were in an interval of 6 months and it was not too difficult for us as we know that we are giving the exams online so it is quite easy for us to score good marks.

Class Size: 24Course Fees: INR 11710 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is not so costly as the semester fees for CSE is 6000/sem and the exam fee is 1200/sem. So I think it's not very much costly. They provide different scholarships like freeship, aikhyashree, Oasis, Svmcm, and many more which help poor students to run their education without any financial issues.

Campus Life

The college provides us with the latest books in the library. There are so many clubs in our college like - sports club, robotics club and etc. The playground is available in the college for students. The college organizes different programs every year in which students participate in different categories.

Hostel Facilities

Mess facilities are provided in the hostel. Meals are not so good but even not so bad. Pg is also available outside the college campus. For registering in college Hostel students have to give their documents.

Placement Experience:

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

It's my decision from class 12 that I will do civil engineering, so I chose the civil branch, the course curriculum is well and the teaching level is good but the main problem is lab, there is very limited classes for lab, so I think they should improve there.

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

I applied in in the Government engineering colleges only and I cut conferred admission in this college. I choose this college over the others because I got the confirm admission in it. A brief overview of RKMGEC

The main reason students come to this college is because of the fact that fees are affordable and also this is purely government college. Admission process is quite easy you need all the necessary documents (Aadhar, Pan, etc) along with your WBJEE scorecard and rankcard. I applied for many other colleges like Jadavpur university, IEM but wasn't able to make ther with my rank and financial instability. I opted for RKMGEC because it offered a compeling mix of quality education,easy faculty and lowe tuition fees. The eligibility was based on west bengal joint entrance examination (WBJEE) scores with specific cutoffs which vary every year. I face rejection from a couple of other top tier colleges primarily due to high competition and slightly lower intense exams scores.
