Everything is possible

With my jee main percentile 90 and rank of 115000. I applied only for mining engineering at the government college of engineering, keonjhar through ojee portal and I was selected for general admission, as well as in the tuition fee waiver scheme. So I choose for tuition fee waiver scheme in which my tuition fee of 12000 was not taken from me. So I paid 18000 for the 1st year. Criteria for tuition fee waiver scheme is that your family income must be less than 250000 per annum and you must be there in the top 2-3 students in the applied branch based on jee main rank. My hostel fee was 36000 p.a, which is now 40000 in the second year. I have heard people with 300000 ranks also get admission in my branch. For admission to a government college in Odisha, you must need a domicile of Odisha. The admission process is easy if you have all documents and if not, then at the time of verification, they will tell you to submit at the time of admission. There is a chart in ojee portal from where you can download the documents required.

This college comes under Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Rourkela and the course curriculum is managed by them. But from this year it has become autonomous. I chose mining engineering because I am living in the mining area and future, I may get a job near my town joda. Faculty student ratio is quite good and faculties are very supportive and if you have an interest in research work then they will help you and suggest things that you can do to achieve your goal like providing research papers, giving knowledge of software and conducting lab experiments. All facilities are postgraduate from IITs and some of them are PHD holders and some are pursuing PhD.

Regularly notifications are sent for different courses from renowned companies like SAP, Cisco etc. And we are allowed to go internship during vacations in renowned companies like CIL, NALCO, TATA steel, IMFA, SAIL etc.

From the 7th semester, we become eligible for campus placement. Last year companies like Infosys came and took 2 students for SAP and many people are placed in companies like TCS, Accenture, Wipro and some have joined startups. 1 person was placed in Tata Power and 1 in byjus.

The annual fee is quite low as compared to other institutes and you can apply for scholarships like medhabruti, Prerna, post matric scholarship. And if you need financial assistance then contact your HOD, he will discuss with the college authority and then you will get it.

There is a total of 7 branches and for each branch, there are technical fests like Anweshan, Nirmaan, vidyutam, Dhatvik etc. Annually one combine fest UTKARSH is organised in which Odia celebrities are invited and its the biggest event in the whole district. Regularly seminars are organised in each branch. Recently in my branch seminars like sustainable mining, recent advancement in mining technology were organised and other branches MatLab and iot workshops were organised. There is a library from where you can issue any book. Generally, all books related to our curriculum are there. We don't need to buy any books from outside. There is one reading room which opens at 9 am and closes at 9 pm. The whole campus is wifi enabled and we get 1GB of data every day. In the classroom, there is a digital screen that is used to show animated videos and photos related to study. Regularly cricket tournaments and badminton tournaments, football tournaments and volleyball tournaments and sports meets are conducted.

I live in a college hostel located inside the college campus. In one room, there are 3 seats and you will get your almirah and reading table. All rooms are non Ac and there are 2 fans and 2 tube lights in every room and a neat and clean corridor. There is parking for your cycle and motorbike. Water and electricity are supplied 24*7. In mess we get meal 3 times a day, generally food quality is good but sometimes it is not up to the mark. The hostel fee is 40000 per annum and no extra charges are taken from students. Near the college are 2-3 mess and rent facilities.
