Instrumentation and Electronics Engineering in Jadavpur University : Should you consider it or not

I applied for Jadavpur University and Kalyani Government Engineering College. But as the second one doesn't have any placement-related good reputation, I chose the first one. And the quality of study is far better at Jadavpur University. I availed no quota other than the Home State quota. No minimum age is there for my course. But for the General Category Home State quota, one has to score at least 80 in WBJEE. i.e. maximum 1100 GMR. As the pandemic is still going on, the whole admission process, which consisted of 3 rounds, was completely online. And there was also a decentralized round, i.e. final round, which was also online.

As I'm interested in the field of Electronics, it's one of the best courses for me. And placement record is also quite good. We have 12 professors for 59 students. All the professors are well qualified, most of them have Ph.D. And their teaching styles are excellent without any doubt. The timing of the exam is actually not that well structured and the tests were quite difficult but one can score well if one studies properly.

Companies that offered paid internships are Amazon, AWS, PWC, ONGC, etc. Projects related to electronics and Programming are generally made by the students for better concept development. One can also add such projects in resume and CV also, which increases the credibility in the placement. And more than one relevant project, which are truly original ideas, is recommended for better internship and placement.

From 6th-semester students start getting placed in various fields. Some prominent companies in which students are placed are Amazon, Texas Instruments, ONGC, GAIL, American Express, etc. The official websites can be checked for the accurate no. of offers. The highest package is 38 LPA and the average one is 12.3 LPA. More than 95% of students are placed. My plans after getting the degree are persuing Masters from any prominent University.

The annual fest, Srijan, is very famous in Kolkata. It is organized in June every year. Mostly every book and journal we require, get from the library. Amenities in classrooms are quite decent. A lot of sports activities such as cricket, football, badminton, tennis, basketball are embraced on the college campuses. Extracurricular activities like Singing, biking, comedy, acting are also embraced. Students can join groups and clubs like JU Science Club, JU Music Club, JU mountaineering club, JU acting club, JU Entrepreneurship Cell, etc.
