IIT (ISM) Dhanbad review

First of all, my rank was around 11k but I was from the OBC quota (OBC rank 2200). You have to fill JOSAA form for your admission. You can check which colleges you might get by your rank to fill JOSAA form (various websites are available for this). Yeah, you need to perform above cutoff.

The students to faculty ratio are 110:1. Faculties are very very qualified. Once a week, we used to hear that one of them published a research paper. But some of them had old ways of teaching. If you concentrate probably you will understand them easily. In the first week of admission, you get the timetable for the whole semester exam and they conduct very timely. Passing is something easy but scoring a good GPA is very hard.

From the 3rd year i.e from 5 semesters, you can get internships from campus. Big to small all companies come for internships. They give from 10k to 1.5- 2 lakh stipend. You need a good cv and projects for clearing the interview round. Also, most of the companies give PPO at the time of Internship.

From 5 semesters you are eligible for campus internships. Most Final year students get placements. From small companies to very big companies like Google/Microsoft give placements. The highest package of around 60 lakh was given by Microsoft. Non-core placement is very high. While only 4-5 companies come for the core one.

As it is IIT, fees are very high. Tution fees per semester is 1 lakh rs for open and obc students and for sc/st 0 rs. College has it's sbi branch. They provide loan for whole four year course very easily. You have to pay the loan after 4 years. For final year students, there is campus placement season.

Campus Life is the best thing about all the IITs. If you have any talent, there is an official club for it. Also, these clubs held various competitions. You can join from dance/singing clubs to any sports club. IIT Dhanbad has four main festivals. Srujan is cultural and Concetto is technical. Also, every branch has their own festivals. Our college has Aisa's second largest technical library. The college has two big grounds.

The college has mainly 8 hostels. 6 for boys and 2 for girls. Two students live in a single room. The room has two beds, a cupboard, a table and a chair. They provide wifi facility and LAN also. Separate mess for vegetarians and also combined. Meal quality is average. They provide not so tasty meals but healthy. Morning breakfasts, lunch, dinner along with evening tea/coffee.
