Remarks
I applied in Miranda House and Sri Venkateswara College. I further ruled out Miranda House because of the distance. The admission criteria for our program was a percentage of 90 plus with maths as a compulsory subject in your stream be it science or commerce. I had commerce in my 12th standard with maths, I thought it would create an obstruction for a BSC program but surprisingly it didn't. We did have a counseling day in which they introduced us to our faculty and seniors. It was ok, to be honest, not that great.
Course Curriculum Overview
I had an interest in the subject maths, that was the sole reason I went ahead with this program. The faculty was again okayish, the timings of the classes were not that great. We had long breaks between classes, longer than it was required. So probably the timetable needed to be worked upon. The student ratio was approximately equal. The qualification of faculty was at par but the teaching methods were extremely old. I wish if we had better professors. We had the semester system. I think the semester system was better because the course got divided into two equal halves. The course did require an intensive study period but that is with any honors course.
Placement Experience
We could involve in the placement cell from the second year itself. Our seniors had also guided us about which companies to apply for, what do the companies actually look for etc. I do not recall the highest package but yes percentage of students getting placed as compared to the percentage of students who applied was extremely less. I had entered the education sector after my college.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure was very nominal if we talk about a middle-class family because I hail from one. I wasn't aware of any scholarships that was given to any of my classmates. We had zero opportunities of campus jobs, I wish if Delhi University start introducing the concept of Campus Jobs.
Campus Life
We had cultural festivals, not any tech fest that I know of. They were altogether average. The College library was very average but they started to renovate and seemed that it was going to be better. So I am sure must be better than what we had. We didn't have any major number of activities at large, maybe because of the semester system. We had to roll again for timely submission of assignments and studying for exams. Although, I made some really good acquaintances in my course and still am in contact with them and cherish them. There was no website for students running by the students. The mode of communication was the only word of mouth, official college website, and bulletin boards.
