Remarks
The entire admission process was conducted online, owing to the covid situation. The best of four criteria was used for the cutoff. As expected it was higher than the previous years but I got through. No interview or any other screening was conducted. ECA cut offs were declared at the very end of the admission process of the marks based entries.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course itself is really nice for people who want to pursue mathematics as a subject of research in the future. Most of the faculty is supportive and tries to keep the sessions interactive even in the online mode. Regarding subjects, core subjects(i.e.of mathematic) are increased every subsequent year i.e. 2,3 and 4 subjects in the 3 years of the course. A few extra subjects are shoved down the students' throats irrespective of choice. Regardless of what is being told to us, these extra subjects are just for pomp and show.
Internships Opportunities
Companies like KPMG Indiadia, EY India, SNB India offers articles opportunities to the students. Meanwhile, fellowship profiles and actuarial profiles are also offered by companies like PwC UK, Global shapers community and Paint IT red.
Placement Experience
From what we have been told, the placement cell provides a lot of opportunities for internships and full time jobs around the year across all the courses of the college. The average package is around 6 lac CTC and the highest one was 20 lac CTC.
Fees and Financial Aid
A lot of scholarships are also given to the students, most often indirectly by the college. Teachers are always ready to help regarding internships and scholarships. A small gesture was made by the college regarding the fee. They returned Rs.500 from the total fee paid for the first year to each student in lieu of the time we lost and the facilities we couldn't use. ( Quite a ridiculous comparison in my opinion.)
Campus Life
The batch of 2020 is yet to see the campus but students and societies have been trying hard to keep up the enthusiasm around fests and other events by constanly organizing semimars, quizes, and other fun activities online. The NCC in our college has been quite active in 2021 and the students seem to be learning quite a lot from that as well. The teachers seem to come around easily when it comes to being lenient on the students who partake in the events.
