It all depends on a student and his/her passion to learn.

I had qualified for jee main but didnt qualify for Jee advanced. So I had applied for colleges like CET Bhubaneswar and IIIT Bhubaneswar. On the basis of my score, I was eligible for Mechanical Branch in CET Bhubaneswar but I was more interested in Computer Science or a related stream. Although the fee of CET Bhubaneswar is less as compared to IIIT Bhubaneswar, this was the sole reason why I chose to study in IIIT Bhubaneswar. For admission in IIIT Bhubaneswar, I had Odissa's domicile quota and women's quota. Using these two quotas, I was eligible for the Computer Engineering branch even if the Computer Science branch was my first choice. Criteria for admission in IIIT Bhubaneswar is 50 percent would in Odisha domicile quota and 50 percent were taken through Josaa. People who have a green cards can also use that as a quota. And in later stages, on-spot admission is also done. Branches are assigned as per score, quota, candidate's choice.

My first preference was the Computer Science branch but as my JEE main score was less I was assigned the Computer Engineering branch. People who score high cgpa(8.5 and above or sometimes 9 and above) in the first semester will be eligible for upgrading or changing their branch after which branch change requests arent entertained. Faculty: Student ratio=1: 57 (on an average) for B.Tech Quality to teaching is okay to good. Some faculties teach really well and some faculties do not teach that well. All the faculties have had atleast MTech/ PG in their respective subjects. Some faculties are also pursuing Post Doctoral while teaching Exams were conducted timely. It is moderate to difficult for a student to pass through during a pandemic it was a bit easier than earlier to pass. Markings before the pandemic were quite strict. Some faculties were liberal in their marking but most of them followed strict rules while marking. So a student needs to attend classes regularly and study regularly for convenience.

B.Tech students are eligible for placements from the 7th sem of final year. In 2021 batch the highest package was 12 lpa which was provided by companies like TurtleMint, CleverTap. In 2022, the highest lpa was maybe 25 lpa but I am not sure as I am 2021 passout. Profiles offered: Analyst, web developer and so on. 90 percent and above students get placements by February. Placements start from November end(7th sem). My plans after degree: pursuing higher studies.

There was 1-2 percent fee hike every semester. For some semesters however fee was less. Fee is determined by the hostel we are choosing to stay in(single room in new hostel or in old hostel) I received job with stipend 5.14 lpa. Placement is good to okay. Emergent startups mostly visit for campus placements. At present, however companies like Dell selects atleast 30 students for internship in the 3rd year itself.

There are technical, coding, cultural, acting, and several other clubs. It is fruitful for a student to be a part of one or more clubs as it would enhance his or her exposure to skills he or she is interested in. I would however recommend people joining IIIT Bbsr to be part of coding club, tech club and ACM Student Chapter as it would be helpful for being placed in good companies. There's E-Journal and several books that one can refer to in library. Library hours are from morning 8 to evening 8 from Mon to Fri and 8-6 pm on Saturday. Library remains closed on second Saturday and during holidays. Tech fest and other fests are usually conducted in Nov- Dec. Advaita which is a cultural fest is usually conducted in Feb. Classrooms are spacious. Sports in campus: Badminton, Basketball, Football, Lawn Tennis. Most of the students however play basketball. Students also participate in Inter and Intra college tournaments. Sometimes chess tournaments are also conducted in college

The meal quality in the mess isn't that good. This is one of the cons. Dishes related to potatoes can be found most of the days. The canteen however provides good dishes. There are two messes. The first mess is on the ground floor and the second mess is on the first floor. The usual menu for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner isn't upto the mark but the extra orders for which candidates have to pay extra money to taste good. The old hostel is affordable but the new hostel which contains a single room isn't. Look out for wardens especially girls' hostel as wardens usually ask for Dusherra buxis, etc. I stayed in a new hostel. It is a single room where I was given a pillow, mattress, bed, chair, and almirah. The new hostel costs 20000 rs for six months while the old hostel costs 9000. The old hostel has room for three people and two people. There will be caretakers cleaning the washroom and common areas but we have to clean our own rooms.
