Remarks

The nice campus, good NIRF ranking. NitK has Great Alumni network in every domain. And it also has a very good coding culture. However it lacks in research like any other IITs or NITs. Professor to student ratio is very good in my department and hence profs.can focus more on individual students, this attracted me to this college.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Course curriculum is good for our branch. First two years are basic metallurgy and then from 3rd years we study material science subjects. Student to faculty ratio is good in our department. All faculty are PhD or more experienced. There were midterm and endterm exams in a semester and two quizzes before each term Exam along with some assignments and presentation.

Placement Experience

5

Students become eligible for placement in the start of there 7th semester. Placement is really a strong point for NITK. We had excellent placement statistics last year in 2020 during the pandemic. Companies like - Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Qualcomm, Samsung, Texas Instruments, Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo, DE Shaw, Uber, Zomato, Maruti, Relaince, Vedanta grp, Tata Motors, TCS, Infosys visit our institute every year. In total around 280-300 companies visit our campus every year. We have 90-95% placements in recent years. NITK is one of the best institute in India for coders. NITK got 4th rank globally in number of GSoC selection with 23 selections in 2020 out of 1198 students selected globally.

Fee Structure And Facilities

NITK is a government institution, so our study and even the food are subsidized here. Fee hike is not very significant, we have seen only hike in 1st year fee this year. Many need based + merit scholarship and also only need based scholarships are also available. In my knowledge we don't have any campus jobs like TA/RA in our college, for financial aid.

Campus Life

5

Life at NITK is awesome. We have a private beach, 300acres of lush green campus, plethora of sport facilities. They built a new gymkhana with equipments costing 1crore, 50m swimming pool, 2 basketball courts, 2 volleyball courts, football, cricket and hockey grounds. We have one of the largest libraries in any NITs with more than 6lacs books+ e-resources. We have all the major clubs like ACM, IEEE, ISTE, IET and many more clubs like Artist forum, dance drama fashion club etc. In Infrastructure, our department is old, but we have many expensive instruments like SEM, TEM in our department. Lastly, our cultural fest- INCIDENT is among the top 10 college fest in India and largest in southern India.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostels are 3 shared in first year. Twin sharing or single accommodation options in 2nd year. And for 3rd and 4th year it is single accommodation. We have tv room, mess, water filter with cooler and laundry facilities. Mess food is really awesome in some hostels, especially if you're coming from North india you're going to like it. The mess food were prepared in very hygienic environment and there was no limit on food quantity.

Admission

No GD or interview was needed. Admit in NITK is done via JOSSA counseling. So, all the admission procedure are exactly same as any other NITs or IITs.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would like to rate the course 7 out of 10. Because as these is a distance learning many difficulties occur. I am doing a MBA in ksou after my graduation in b. Com. As ksou comes under UGT it is more helpful for the job seeker. As per my knowledge the faculty should conduct a more classes may be through online so that the working people can attend the classes from wherever they want. There are many distance learning courses in ksou academic platform but they are not handling in a accuracy. They take a lot of time to announce a results, even to conduct a exams they take a lot of time. The question paper are sometimes difficult and the question will be from out of syllabus which will be difficult to attend. Distance learning course is difficult to manage
