Everything about NIT ROURKELA ( campus life, placements, fees )

The best aspects of the college is the campus. It's the second largest campus in India. A lush green campus with a very good mess facilities. The buildings are great. Hostels are also good. Evrything about infrastructure was a plus point. Only negative point is the non availability of airport due to which some companies refuse to come a pick students. Placements are little bit affected.The admission process was smooth. After admission I directly was taken to my hostel and started staying there.Quora was used to know about my college.

Course curriculum and academics are standard in all NITs and IITs . The faculties are not that great. Some are excellent and some are pathetic. It's all YouTube and NPTEL which will teach you later. The faculties have done PhDs from IITS or foriegn universities. The term exams are all conducted timely and easy to pass.

There was only 2 companies that offered internship and I wasn't selected for them.

The placement and job opportunities are huge for cs, ece, ee and ei ie for circuital branches but it's just bad for core branches. The ratio of core companies to analytics companies is very less. But most of them get placed in analytics. So the placement percentage is close to¸ Till now 15-20 companies visited out of which 2 were core companies and other 18 were analytics. The highest package offered was 11.85 and the average is 6.5 lacs. I have been just placed in a analytics company . I still have time to give gate so that I can get a decent psu.

The total course costs 8 lacs in span of four years. 2 lacs per year.62500 tuition fees per semester. Approx 15000 mess fees per sem. 5000 for hostel per sem. and other 10k for library , sac , sports etc.

The life at campus is awesome. We have lot of fests to enjoy. We have a big tech fest every year namely Innovision which happens in the month of Nov every year. It a very big fest. We have bollywood celebrities coming to the fest and showcasing some performances too. Our other fests are NITR utsav which is a grand fest of our college. All types of dances and DJs come to our college and we jave a great night. Cosmopolitan festival is another great fest of our college where students from different communities and states show case the music and dances of their state. The sports facilities are good. We have all types of club to be in and showcase our talent.

The hostel and mess are one of the best of all NITs. For a mere 20000 per sem you get great accomodation and food. You will be alloted hostel right after your admission. 1st years are alloted 2 hostels GDB and MV. GDB is the best for accomodation as it contains big rooms. So if you choose early you will get better rooms.

No only Jee mains Rank. there is no process . After you have secure your rank/ percentile. You will sit for choosing colleges and then you will be able to take admission in that college. There are total 7 rounds of counselling . You will be alloted colleges in those rounds. And then you choose whether to take that college or not.
