Harsh Bansal's Review On IIT Roorkee - Indian Institute Of Technology - [IITR], Roorkee

I had given IIT JEE in 2015 in which i scored 226 marks and got AIR 3200. With this rank in IIT JEE, i had many options to opt for, but at that time i don't know much about branches. So, i preferred to talk to seniors and my coaching teacher's to gain knowledge about the branches which are open for me in the last year that is in 2015 because the closing rank of the branches doesn't change much in one year.

Yes, our college provides internships for pre-final year students. Stipend depends on the companies which vary from Rs 10.000 to around 80.000. These companies also provide Pre Placement Offer(PPO) if they like your work during the internship. Internships provide us a visualization of how the work is done on a large scale. So, from my perspective, everyone should do internships as possible.

There are many job opportunities, you can take placement either on-campus or off-campus. Companies like Facebook, Google, Microsoft also recruit students from my college, no matter they are in less in number. Students from branches like Computer Science, Electronics and Communication.

We annually celebrate our cultural fest "Thomso" and Technical fest "Cognizance" on a large scale with around 2500 external participation. Also, there are many small events like "Shrishti " (exhibition of technical projects with so many fun games),"Sankalp", "Goonj"(musical events are performed in this.) etc.

The fee structure of IIT Roorkee is feasible. The annual fee for B.tech, Students is around 2,60,000 which includes both dining and residence. Our college also provides fee waivers for those students whose father's income annual income is less than 4,50,000 and in favor college does not take their tuition fee that is 2,00,000.

There is around 1:8 of girls is to boys which is very less but there is no activity in which girls lags than boys. Girls are as much involved in sports, workshops, groups as boys. In our cultural team girls are more in number than boys and in choreography, section girls do as better as boys. Their involvement in sports is also observable, girls won many medals in Inter IIT sports in every sport.

For Undergraduate students hostels, facilities are good. Everyone got a room which is shared with one more person in the first year and from 2nd year all to get a single room. Doubles and single rooms have enough space to stay and we have to pay around 12,000 per semester as a hostel fee. Every hostel has its own mess and the quality of food in each mess is also good, and for mess fee, we have to pay around 13,000 per semester.

Seniors' guidance is the best thing we have in college. Seniors are very helpful in every field since they have more experience than the junior. Any stranger senior is also ready to help juniors either the problem is related to their areas of knowledge else they refer another senior to help the junior.

The exam structure is easy, we have mid-terms in around one and a half months and after around 2 months we have our end term. We have a lot of time to prepare for these. And also in between the semester, we have one or two quizzes in every subject so that you can have better preparation. In all the structure is good.

After a lot of study for around 2 years, i was waiting for the exam in the last time of my study, and when the notification comes that the form is now available i filled that form on the next day as this exam is very important for me. After that, we have to first clear JEE Main exam and then you have to clear JEE Advanced exam.

When I come into the IIT my expectation of the faculty was much high, but many of them are not up to that mark. No doubt, all are highly educated but only education doesn't matter, they should also have the quality or they know how to transfer or share their knowledge and experiences to the students. I don't why some professors lack this quality or this happens just because they did not show much interest.
