Good aspects - NIT Rourkela is a well established college with a glorious past. The alumni network is amazing and is growing exponentially. Placement scenario is way above average and research opportunities are the best. The campus life is something to die for, club culture is thriving and amazing people from all over India and abroad join hands to sustain a conducive ecosystem for growing personally and professionally in all aspects of life.Bad aspects - Poor administration and rigid outdated curriculum.

Course curriculum is mostly okay but it could be revamped. Academics is splendid but because of outdated curriculum it is not very effective. Most faculties are highly qualified professionals with PhDs from IITs and reputed foreign universities who have an indept knowledge of their subjects and help out in every possible way.Choosing any of the circutal brances is bery important as they get most of the opportunities.Overall estimate of faculty ratio would be 1:20

All final year students across all courses are eligible for Placements.Microsoft, Amazon, Myntra, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, Oracle, SAP Labs, Goldman Sachs, Mathworks, Micron, Samsung, Barclays, Citi, Mercedes, Salesforce, Analog Devices, Lowe, Visa, Wells Fargo, American express, AMD, GEP, Morgan Stanley etcNear about 1000 offers are made every year.Highest 47 LPAAverage 13Profiles are offered from core to software to analytics. Something for everyone.More than 90% of students are placed in my department and rest go for higer studies.Secured an offer from oracle, plan to start there.

For general category student it's 8 lakhs for entire course. Other category students pay half of that or less.There are multiple scholarship and financial assistance provided by the college and the alumni which can be availed by students who need them.Fee hasn't been hiked since I have joined. There are no hidden charges as such once a semester fees is paid a student doesn't need to pay anything else out if his/her pocket.There are no provisions for student jobs on campus but there's no restrictions regarding it either.

We have 5 major fests, tech and cultural fest are the biggest of their kind in eastern India that see over 5000 footfall every year. Tech fest is conducted in November and Cultural is held on March. Well know celebrities like Sonu nigam, ritviz, shreya Ghoshal, the local train and many more have performed.Library is loaded with more than 50000 books journals from all around the world. It's huge and most of which can be accessed remotely. Classrooms are, well lit, ventilated, have high tech facilities for E-learning completely equipped with microphone, speaker, comfortable tables chairs, projector in every classroom.Almost every know sports indoor and outdoor is present in NIT Rourkela, multiple badminton, tennis, basketball, volleyball courts. Olympic sized swimming pool. Multiple gyms with quality equipments every hostel and centrally. Handball, cricket and football stadiums are equipped with flood lights. Table tennis, carrom board, chess are available inside every hostel along with badminton courts. TVs are provided in recreational rooms. Day and night canteen with affordable delicious food.70+ clubs ranging from sports, cultural, technical etc. Whatever hobby you may have there is a club for it. Monday morning is a student runned media house of NIT Rourkela. Apart from that there are hundreds of startups incubated by students with proper funding facilities from well know angel investors, odisha government and Alumni.At the time of writing there are many small market place that can take care of any amenities that you may require. On campus restaurants like Dosa Plaza, Jozz, Hexagon, Moksha are also present.

NIT Rourkela has the second largest hostel in Asia and has a total of 11 huge(you can actually get lost) hostels. Most of the hostels are very well equipped(rooms with cupboard table chair bed sockets fan and the recreational facilities for indoor and outdoor sports, gym, TVs, small reading room where we get daily newspaper) and are spacious. Mess food is decent in most cases. Menu is awesome but quality of food could be improved(separate for veg and non veg). Hostels are easily affordable whose fees is given along with semester fees and is nominal. All hostels have day and night canteen so even if you miss your mess food you can still eat. A massive parking area for cycles with electric air pumps. Power backup is only available in girls hostel and not in boys. Washrooms are shared and have geasers and washing machines.

It was just JEE mains exam. Physics , chemistry and mathematics. 120 marks each. JEE mains rank is determined from your JEE mains score. You can apply for any college once you clear the exam but you will only get admission in those colleges based on a good enough rank.
