Remarks
The reason why I joined VIT is that, it has had outstanding placements in the recent years, better than other b.tech colleges (exception: Bits).Vit also has special platforms to educate you on what opportunities you could have if you wish to pursue your masters (either in India or Abroad), or want to get placed in your dream company. They also conduct frequent webinars in order to keep you updated about the things going on in different companies.Talking about the student to faculty ratio, currently there are 115 students in my batch, but that is due to online classes, as far as ive heard from the 4th year seniors, offline batches had 30 to 40 students in one class and the student to faculty ratio is just like any other pvt college.
Course Curriculum Overview
The only reason i opted for computer science engineering is, Computers facinate me and i always used to wonder about the functioning of the applications. The course curiculum is quiet hectic but it is not like you would have to prepare for the exams like you used to do in 10th or 12th. one can easily balance accademics and extra curriculars. The variety of courses provided here is vast and one could even opt for a specialization courses for eg: cse with specialization in machine learning. The Faculty to student ratio has considerably dropped due to the current covid conditions, one batch has near about 115 students, that means each subject teacher guides 115 students, but as far as ive heard from the seniors, in offline classes one batch will have not more than 40 students.Moving on to the qualification of the faculty members, all of them hold at least a phd degree, they are extremely dedicated in educating the candidates about the topics and keeping them motivated and also they are fun to interact with as they already have loads of knowledge which they share without any hesitation. Their teaching method is quiet unjudgeable for now as the online classes has limitations and restrictions, still i have faced no difficulty in understanding the topics .Vit conducts the term exams every 6 months, but to be elegible to appear for the term exams, you need to clear the continious assessment test aka the CAT that you need to appear for every 2 months. In case if you have any coding related/lab based course you will be assessed based on personal assessment tests which are conducted randomy by the faculty members after they have completed any topic. If one is attentive enough in the class, attends all the lectures sincerely and atempts the daily assignments and homeworks, i dont think they need to put in any extra efforts after the classes. Although it is preferred by most of the students to have any coding related course as the class content is sometimes difficult to understand.
Placement Experience
The placement is extraordinary, all the seniors i know havee been placed in good companies. 2021 placements peaked drastically, microsoft picked 21 students with 45lpa ctc, a new startup offered 75lpa, near about 1k students got 10lakh+ ctc placement. The students also get ppo during their internships. the internships start at the innitial phase of 3rd year and the best performers get ppo. Some of the well known companies visiting vit: MicrosoftQualcommGoldmansachsmorgan stanleyAmazonInfosysPaypal. list goes on overall avg package: 7 to 8 LPAhighest CTC: 75LPA ctcstudent placed 100% (2020), 2021 placements are still going onIm currently working on myt skills and improving myself so that i can get into microsoft as it is my dream company :)
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee that you have to pay is completly based on the rank that you score in the enterance exam and the courses you opt. there are different fee categories, like for category 1: the tuition fee is 1.98 lakhs, for category 2 it is somewhat more than 2.5 or 2.6 lakhs, category 3 has a tuition fee of 3lakhs and this continues till category 5.now for example in the counceling form, based on the rank you have scored, you fill up the available options based on your preference as follows:1) cse core cat12)cse core cat23) IT cat14) IT cat25)cse core cat3. and so onso in case u didnt qualify for the cutoff of cse core cat 1 which has a fee of 1.98 lakhs, you will be shifted to the higher fee category i,e, cat2. in case you qualified the cutoff for cse core cat 2 you will have to take up that course, rest of the preferences wont be entertained for you there after and in case you didnt qualify cutoff of cse coe cat 2, only then you will be checked for IT cat-1. So basically if you can pay higher fee, the chances of you getting into the course of your choice will increase.Scholarships: scholarships are provided to toppers of every state and every board, i cant remember the exact number of students that get the scholarships but they do provide it.the clg also provides education loans and financial assistance but I am not at all aware about any work + study program. There are separate fees for hostel and mess and they all depend upon your choice. In my case, i got into a cat 1 course, i opted for 3 beded room and nonveg mess and this sums up to 3.5lakh per anum.
Campus Life
Anual Fest: VibranceTech.Fest: techno VITThere are innumerable clubs and student chapters. There is almost everything you can think of.I have no idea about the social life and infrastructure, thanx to corona virus. :'(
Hostel Facilities
Hostel is quiet expencive altho as a fresher of the covid batch, we werent asked to pay either the hostel or the mess fee. you can check the fee details in the official website. all that i have hard from the seniors is the hostels have well maintained facilities, gyms, laundery services and food courts nearby. The mess food is also good and north Indians wont face any problem regarding the taste as they have nort indian caterings too
Admission
Theres a computer based test with a format just like JEE mains but the difficulty level is a bit less than mains. For the btech course there is no interview or GD round.
