Remarks

I had given my Kcet exam in 2020, I was expecting a good rank and get admission in a good Engineering college. But my rank was not as expected and I joined Bsc. Computer science in St.Joseph's college Bangalore. Sjc is one of the best college in Bangalore and many students come from different places to study here. I have been placed in General category not availed any quota for admission. As my batch was a covid batch, I Had an online interview and got admission. We have to register in prior and you would be asked to attend the online interview through zoom app. You would be asked relevant questions from your previous college experience and if you satisfy them, you will easily get seat in St.Josephs college. Minimum marks aren't required as far as you are passed out properly. I had to pay Rs.54000 for my course and was asked to pay the next day itself. No category concession available, based on your performance in college one will be given. Installments and scholarships are available ifneeded

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I choose PMC (Physics maths computer). I always had an interest in physics and computer science is one of the best subject for job oriented students so I had to take this. The faculty over here are huge! So many professors, assistant professors, teaching and non teaching staffs. For a class each subject is maintained by 3 qualified teachers, and the teaching methods are so understandable. Anyone can reach a professorat ease. All the professors are minimum post graduated, and most of them have 3+years of teaching experience. We have totally 6 semesters and each semes6is for 6months. Each 6month we will have one mid semester exam and one final semester exam. The difficulty depends on students, nothing seems difficult if you have knowledge or concentration in the subject.

Internships Opportunities

4

The placement is really helpful as the college gives exposure to the students in various aspects as it greatly helps the students to do well in their placements. That being said companies like Wipro, Infosys, Declathon. Etc. Come for campus selections and the rate of selections is really high, on an average 9 out 10 students applying get placed. The salary package offered ranges between 2-4 LPA. The internship is not a necessary component of this course, so many students did not do an internship. We get great support from the faculty for research and paper publishing in all the streams. Each domain gets good and reputed companies with decent packages. If the students get good percentages, they will get placements with good packages.

Placement Experience

4

The placement has been good in St.Josephs College of Arts and Science. Many multinational companies and many other private companies come here for interviews. About60% of the students got the internship from the college. The top recruiter for our course is Wipro, and around 5%-10% of the students get placed from here. Lab technicians are the top roles offered in our course. The placements for our course are not very high because of the subjects. However, after further studies, things will improve. Professorship and research are the ideal options after B.Sc degree. The reputation for every course has a standard, and in the same way, even our course has a quality. Placement process starts from 3rd year of College ,Since I am not yet into placement, I don't know much about placements.

Fees and Financial Aid

I had to pay an amount of Rs.54000 for my course, and I opted for 2 installment process. I had to speak with my interviewer to offer me installments. All types of scholarships like minorities scholarship,OBC scholarship, SC ST scholarship are available. I applied for management scholarship and I was given Rs.16000 scholarship in my first year. Many companies come here for hiring students as SJC is well known and prestigious college from where many talented students have passed out. Maximum placement guarantee is given.

Campus Life

4.5

Opportunities for this stream are high, so it is better than engineering or medical. Social connections and the surroundings of the campus provide an opportunity to interact with lots of people as well as learn new things. Interaction is the best source of learning, and this is the best place for it.The student council of the college organises many events and fests. The campus is quite big, so there is no problem with the crowd. The campus surrounding is good with greenery. The college has decent Wi-Fi all over the campus. The cafeteria has good and hygienic food. For sports, there are designated courts and grounds. The classrooms are spacious and are equipped with projector screens. The library has a good collection of books, including the books that are very old.Our college has a gym, basketball court, badminton court and football turf.

From final year the students can apply for the placements. At least 60% should be there to be eligible for the placement. Many companies provides placements in this college like infosys, Accenture, Mahindra and many more. The average package as per the company is 200000 per annum and the highest package is 700000 per annum. My plans after getting the degree is to go to abroad for my post graduate.

Placement Experience:

Usually there are placements in our college. If any student does not get a placement the faculty guide us what we can do next like the companies in which we can apply and how we can go further. In my course after finishing the bachelors degree you can further study masters it is available in our college itself or yoj can aplly for companies but if you do your masters you have a better opportunity and high posts for you better career. The course is of 8 semester you become eligible for campus placements in 7th semester. The last year that is seventh and eighth semester is basically practical and lot of projects provided. There various companies are seniors have applied and offered for example the genetic company in Bangalore that is Med gen. The highest package offered is 50000 and the average starts from 25000 placements in college. There is 75 percentage of students getting placements from our college. My plans after getting the degree is to go for further studies and do the masters after that i would like to do job along with my phd, this is my plan after getting my bachelors degree.

Most of the students after completing four years, continue to stay here to get Masters degree after one more year and pursue PhD from world renowned institutions. Very few people (<7/100) per batch will sit for campus placements and most of them will be selected with a good annual package of 30000 at an average. Some students, mostly Physocs majors can give government exams like ICRB, GATE to join ISRO and BARC as scientists

Qualification is good and the teaching method like some lectures is good. Term exams will be after 6 months from starting of sem and it's not as difficult as pu or 10th exams we can easily pass them.
