IIT Dhanbad Review

One needs to clear JEE Main and JEE Advanced to get admission into B.Tech and Integrated M.Tech courses. Admission is given on the basis of rank obtained in JEE Advanced. Counselling process is done by JOSAA(Joint Seat Allocation Authority) for all the 23 IITs, in which one fills college choice based on his/her rank. The application forms for JEE Main & Advanced can be found on their respective websites. For MBA, CAT scores are considered and for M.Sc admission IIT JAM scores are considered.

The prime reason of choosing this course was interest in Mechanical Engineering field. The faculty to student ratio is 1:22 as of now. All thr faculties here are highly qualified in their respective fields. For every semester there are certain quizzes, one midsem and one endsem along with Viva and assignments, which are quite difficult to pass considering the level of questions.

Companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Flipkart, Goldman Sachs, visit every year for internships. Students become eligible for on campus internships after the 2nd year. The eligibility criterion is usually above 7 OGPA with no backlog.

Students become eligible for placements after the 7th semester, the placement season continues till May, end of 8th semester. 100+ companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Flipkart, Sprinklr, Maruti Suzuki, etc. visit the campus for placements. The highest package last year was 43.5 LPA, and the average package was around 12-14 LPA.

The semester tution fee is ? 1,00,000 and adding it up with other charges it goes upto ? 1,07,000 approximately per semester. The hostel fees is ?15,000 per semester. There are a few scholarships for the meritorious students.

Annual fest Srijan is usually conducted in the month of January end-February starting. The Tech fest is conducted during October end-November starting. The newly built central library is one of the biggest in the country with 7 floors. All the books required are found in the library. A number of sports activities take place in the campus, which include, Cricket, Football, Badminton, Table Tennis, Squash, Swimming, etc. Along with sports clubs there are many other clubs run by students, namely, ARKA(Astronomy Club), Robotics Club, (Mailer Daemon)Journalism Club, Fotofreaks(Photography Club), Artfreaks(Art Club) and Dance and Music clubs as well.

The hostels have 2 students in one room and are spacious enough for 3-4. There are separate ports for each student, and one LAN port. One chair, separate beds and a joint wardrobe arr provided. The meal quality is quite good with a variety of menu items . Vegetarians and Non-vegetarians have separate floor. The registration process is done on IIT official website and then submit it in hostel warden office.
