Course Curriculum Overview
Most of the Physics UGs at Khalsa take this course because of their interest and passion for scientific research. Some also join the course with an aim to crack various Government Exams (For Ex: UPSC). The faculty at Khalsa is comprised of very experienced and eminent professors. Faculty members are themselves involved in various national/international level research projects and don't shy from guiding interested students. SGTB Khalsa is also said to have one of the best Physics departments in the Uni. Of Delhi. As far as the exams go, most of the teachers follow continuous assessment and End-Semester exams are conducted in May (for Even Semesters) and Dec (for Odd Semesters). Though the level of exams is not very difficult, in order to pass the exams, one needs to be regular in class and study sincerely.
Internships Opportunities
The Placement Cell and societies help students find internships during their time at Khalsa. A lot of tech., business and consultancy giants like Infosys, Deloitte etc offer summer internships. A lot of startups, especially in the Education sector offer internships/part-time jobs to students. Apart from this, Research internships are very common and students of Khalsa go on to grab summer internships all around the world. In Physics, a few students are always selected for NIUS, SRFP as well as International Internships every year.
Placement Experience
The Placement Cell of Khalsa helps students find jobs but placements are not very popular, at least for students in science-related streams. Most of the students either go ahead to pursue higher education from world renowned institutes or sit for Govt. Exams. If one is interested in continuing their education, Khalsa is a great place to be in! Our alumni go on to study at the finest institutions all around the world and become established and renowned personalities. A lot of alumni also go on to join CDS, UPSC and other prestigious government jobs.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees for all the courses is highly subsidized, given the fact that Uni. Of Delhi is funded by Central Govt. Fees for BSc (H) Physics ranges between 26000-27000 rupees/per annum. For candidates from financially weaker sections, various scholarships can be readily availed. Since classes are currently being held online, the college also provides Laptops to the students in need at no/low cost. Campus Life
Lashkara, the annual fest of SGTB Khalsa is held between Jan-March and is one of the best fests in University Of Delhi. Khalsa's infrastructure is also the best in the North Campus, housing the second largest library in the University Of Delhi. The library contains more than 2 lakh books and also has all the famous journals. Extracurriculars bloom at Khalsa. From having a nearly professional cricket and hockey ground, one can find almost any sport on campus. College also has a ton of societies from Bhangda to NCC. Anyone with zeal to explore and willingness to devote time can find everything of their likeness here. For Physics Enthusiasts, Sparks - The Physics Society conducts regular events like seminars, talks, quizzes and a variety of other competitions.
