IIITDM gives you admission based on your jee main rank. I secured a rank of 20778 in the jee main 2019. I got my admission through the josaa counseling program. The process in josaa is very simple. You just need to give the required details and the name of the colleges where you want to seek admission and once your rank matches with the cut-off of your selected college you get your admission. There is a total of 7 rounds of councelling in josaa and apart from that, there will be 3 bonus rounds as well. The cut-off ranks keep increasing as the councelling from one round to the next round. I got my admission in IIITDM kanchepuram in the 6 th round of councelling. The general cut-off for electronics and communication in IIITDM is around 21000. If you get a rank below 19000 you can get a sure admission in IIITDM for an ECE. In case you get a rank above 21000 you can still try your luck in the bonus rounds of josaa counseling.

The main reason why I chose ECE is that it imparts the fundamentals of both computer science and electronics and after you graduate with an ECE degree you are eligible to work for a computer-based company such as Google as well as an electronics-based company such as intel. There will for one faculty for every subject in a class of 50 students. All the professors in IIITDM are Ph.D. in their respective subjects and most of them have completed their Ph.D. from IIT, this makes them an expert in their subjects. Most of the professors use ppt for explanation in the classes and some of them make use of blackboard and chalk. The term exams are neither too difficult nor too easy if you listen in classes properly and make use of the reference books and the material which the professor shares in the class you can clear the term exams with good results without any difficulty

Every year the students get internship opportunities in various companies such as Microsoft, intel, etc. Some of the roles that were obtained were as an assistant programmer, assistant circuit designer, web developer, etc. The stipend that was provided was around 20000. Some of the projects that were done were smart home automation, Designs in VLSI, quiz system, etc. The time period will vary according to the project varying from 2 months to 6 months. Actually I along with my friends I did a project on smart home automation for around 3 months the experience was really amazing we really got exposed to a lot of research material and gained a lot of knowledge in the process.

Around 15 to 20 companies visit the campus everywhere and the number of students who get placed every year is increasing every year with 85% last year. Companies such as intel, xoho, Infosys visit the campus every year. The highest package placed this year is around 24 lakhs per annum and the average package is around 15 lakhs per annum. Students are eligible for campus after completing their 3 rd year. My plans after degree is to work for a couple of years and then pursue an MBA from any top universities

IIITDM has a direct tie-up with IIT madras. If you maintain an average cgpa of 9 or above at the end of 4 years you are eligible to do a direct Ph.D. program in IIT madras without a mtech degree. The campus also has a tie-up with some universities in France, Japan, and other countries. If you get selected for any of these exchange programs you can complete a semester in one of these foreign universities with a stipend of $ 7000 for four months. Apart from that, the students of IIITDM do an internship in some top companies such as intel in their semester vacation. Although the internship opportunities have heavily declined ever since the covid 19 pandemic has started. The fees in IIITDM are around 66000 per semester and the mess fees are around 24000.

The social life on campus is really amazing. There are clubs for a lot of aspects some of them are reading club, programming club, gaming club, acting club, etc. The campus also conducts NSO sessions weekly twice where you can learn and train yourself in any sports of your choice and an SSG session is also conducted once every week where you will be asked to clean the campus, plant trees, and do other eco-friendly activities. The library is enriched with a lot of books and journals on various different subjects. A fest by the name of vashist is conducted every year where you will expose to a lot of workshops on a variety of subjects and you will also be given chances to do an internship in some good companies. Regarding hostel life, it is compulsary that every student of IIITDM should stay in a hostel. The hostels are well maintained and are cleaned regularly. The faculties will be available till night 8:00 pm in their respective cabin in case you have doubts about any of your subjects.

The hostel is well maintained and cleaned regularly. Once your admission is confirmed and all the process is completed you need to go to the hostel to complete your hostel registration. It is compulsary that every student of IIITDM stays in a hostel. The hostel has a total of 6 wardens and you can inform any one of them in case you face any issues there is also a hospital attached to the hostel incase you need any medical treatment. Every room in the hostel is provided with a free LAN facility. The water and power will be supplied to the hostel 24 x 7. The food served in the mess is of very good quality and the mess is divided into two sections one is for vegetarians and the other is for nonvegetarians and the food is unlimited. Apart from the mess, there is also a cafeteria where you can buy food after payment. The hostel fees are around 25000 and the mess fees is around 30000
