Remarks
I gave JEE Mains after 12th boards, got near 30k rank. My college takes admission through JoSAA. It is under the GFTI category. It is partly funded by the Odisha State government. Application is done all through JoSAA, application fees were standard 35000. There is a 50% reservation for students from Odisha State. However, that admission is done outside JoSAA through the college itself. The admission process was smooth.
Course Curriculum Overview
I was interested in computers and technology from the beginning. That's why the main preference was branch related to IT Sector. There are 5 branches in a batch and every branch has near about 60 students. Most subjects are taught by one faculty, some are taught by more than one. The faculty is overall good and helpful, but some are just very unnecessarily strict. The teaching method of most faculty is the old fashioned on the blackboard, but some teachers teach with the help of projectors too. The exam schedule is very accurate and there is very small modification afterwards. But the exams are fairly easy to pass, the endsems are moderately difficult.
Internships Opportunities
Dell came for internships, they organised a hackathon. Questions were fairly hard. It is still undergoing. They asked questions related to aptitude, coding. Very few people were shortlisted after the first round.
Placement Experience
From the 7th semester, we are eligible for placements. Deloitte, TCS, Accenture, Tekion etc. Average package 8 LPA and max 25 LPA. 60% of students are placed on average. My plans are still not decided yet, I may apply for masters or jobs I haven't decided on.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees are hiked by around 5% every year. The cost of the study is on the higher side when compared to other government colleges but is still below the averages of private institutions. There are on campus placements that are held at the start of the 4th year.
Campus Life
Annual fest is called 'Advaita'. It is held in the first week of February. There is no such test fest, it is done within Advaita. But a lot of other events are held throughout the year. Books are easily available in the library. Classrooms are average, with no air conditioning. Sports are also present. There are a lot of social clubs run by students. Namely E-Cell, NAPS, TARS, FATS, PARACOSM, PHOTOGEEKS etc.
Hostel Facilities
A bed, a table and a chair and an almirah are provided to the students. Hostel accommodation is compulsory for the first year. Meal quality is average, most dishes are Odia. Food taste is not up to the mark but there are options to choose from. Hostels are pretty affordable.
