Remarks
The admission process into Kazi Nazrul University began online. After the AISSCE results came out, I went on to their official website and saw Admission Open notice for Undergraduate Students. Upon seeing the prospectus and fee structure, I applied for three courses in honours; Political Science, English, and Honours. I waited for the Merit List to come out. On the first Merit list, I saw my name displayed on the top 10 for all three honours courses. Taking in my future career prospects and aspirations, I choose Political Science honours. There are reservation benefits available for those who wish to take it ( and are eligible for it) during the process of admission. I did not avail reservation because I was not eligible for the same. You can find the application form on the Kazi Nazrul University website, displayed clearly once the admission period starts. The application fees were around 500/- and I completed the whole admission procedure by June.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose Political Science honours as my Bachelor's degree major because I want to pursue a career in Political Analysis. Political Science has been one of my favorite subjects from high school and I aspire to continue my professional journey in this field. The student's faculty ratio is 1:20. The average student strength in a particular year is around 80 and every department has 4 teachers minimum. There are other departments where the faculty: student ratio defers by a margin. Every faculty member who is employed as an Assistant Professor in the University has a Masters Degree and has secured a rank in the UGC NET/SET examination. Assistant Professors are more in number compared to Professors who have completed PhDs and have published research works. Term exam timings have been fluctuating a lot, in regards to the covid situation. Rest assured, at least 4-5 months is allotted to students to prepare for their semester exams. The Standard of questioning in exams is easy.
Fees and Financial Aid
The minimum cost to study, if we take in to account all the semesters, is a little higher than 15,000/- There were not any major fee hikes that took place during 2019-2022, but the cost of study is not at par with the quality of education provided at the institution. There are major areas of improvements such as infrastructure, lab facilities, and more. There are scholarships and financial assistance available that assist a student's academic journey but they are mainly for the dispora of students who belong to the Reservation Quota community. There are no jobs and placement opportunities available at the institution.
Campus Life
Fresher's party and annual fests are hosted by the college and union but they have not taken place lately due to Covid. The library at the Triveni Debi Bhalotia college campus is good, but you are not allowed to inspect the books yourselves.
