Remarks
I had to apply through the institute's website as it conducts separate counselling for Odisha students. There I went through the counseling process (similar to JOSAA) which takes into consideration your JEE Main score. I didn't avail any reservation benefits except for Home State category, the criteria for which are more lenient than those of JOSAA.
Course Curriculum Overview
My first preference was CSE but my rank wasn't good enough so I had to settle for IT. Student to faculty ratio is quite good as we don't have a lot of students here in the first place. A good portion of the faculty are Ph.D. holders and all of them have mastered from reputable institutes. Exams were timely pre-COVID but currently the circumstances forces the academic calender to change throughout the year. They seem to be getting back on track though. Exams were easy with mostly previous year questions and one can easily pass with decent enough preparation.
Internships Opportunities
As of now, only Dell recruits summer interns from 5th-semester students. They mostly look for Software Developers but there is no specified role mentioned so the actual work assigned to you may differ.
Placement Experience
Campus placements are carried out for 7th-semester students. Details are available on the placements website. Almost all eligible students are placed. I plan on doing a job immediately after getting the degree. Internships for 3rd-year students are quite rare as currently there is only one company that recruits summer interns.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tuition fees are hiked every year by about 5-10%. The fee structure is fixed and given at the time of admission. This place is very expensive to study in considering the fact that it is a government institute. There are mentions of scholarships on the admission brochure but upon contacting the staff about it, they simply ignore your emails. So don't expect anything from the college's end. You can still apply for all sorts of scholarships but the eligibility criteria for those are very different.
Campus Life
The annual cultural-cum-tech fest, Advaita, is typically conducted in the month of February. Many books (academic) and journals are available in the library. Classrooms have projectors and power outlets but no air conditioning. For sports, we only have a single field which is used to play both cricket and football. There are also two tennis courts that remain unused and badminton courts in the hostels which are open to the air and are suitable for casual play only.
Hostel Facilities
You get a single bed, a table, an almirah and a chair as furniture. The table is a bit small to use as a desk but should be fine for use as a study desk. Meals are horrendous in the hostel mess 60% of the time but one can live off of it if one really has to. Hostels are available by default and all first-years have to stay in hostels. Once can opt-out later on.
