Meanwhile, reports are out that the admission procedure to Delhi University will change for the upcoming batch. An Entrance Exam (CUCET) will be conducted for all admissions for UG.
Course Curriculum Overview
I studied B.Sc Mathematics (H) from SGTB Khalsa College, DU. The Maths Department was top-notch with very well-qualified faculty (nearly all teachers were of Doctorate level). The first Semester was unfortunately online due to the pandemic. So, the mode of teaching was also online. Talking about as to why I chose this course. The answer is simple- I love math! Getting into DU was not my plan, but I had to somehow. Then came the choice that I had to make for my course. Being a PCM student, my hands were tied. Either I could study sciences from a good college or shift into arts or commerce in a less good college (there is a 2.5% deduction for stream change). So, I chose the former and I made the right decision. The Curriculum seemed a bit tough and hectic, but it was fairly easy to pass the exams (with good marks).
Internships Opportunities
There are a number of internship opportunities for the students. The Placement Cell keeps the interested students updated about various paid and unpaid internships. The companies generally hire interns for online-related works and projects.
Placement Experience
TO be very honest, or college is not popular for its placements. Although, the college has a very active placement cell - Ignite the packages have not been very high. Each year the packages range from 5 to 15 LPA depending on the course. The major hirers are TCS, Wipro, IBM, ICICI, etc.
Fees and Financial Aid
Our college was considered a costly one in Delhi University with UG Courses ranging from 15000-30000 tuition fees per annum. There was an active placement cell that provided internships and placement opportunities for the students.
Campus Life
The extracurricular life in our college was extravagant. This needs no proof as the college is situated in the North Campus of Delhi University. There were a number of societies in the college including NCC, NSS, Confero (MUN), DADS (Debating), ETRAM (Dance), Swarang (Music), and many more. Students actively took part in various activities and competitions through such Societies. The annual fest- Lashkara is a huge attraction to the students all over the University! A 3-4 day long fest including various activities, social and cultural performances, various games and lots of street food. To better it off, there is a star night where a famous celebrity performs in the fest. Also, Sports was given importance in the college. There were frequent athletic meets and competitions. The college had one of the biggest grounds where we could play Football, Cricket, Basketball, Badminton and much more. Also, the college is reputed to have one of the biggest libraries in DU!-Mata Gujri Library.
