Remarks
The only way to enter an NIT college is by giving the JEE main exam and completing the counseling process. JEE Main is a national-level entrance exam and the competition is tough as lakhs of students give this exam every year. Securing a good rank helps in getting admission to a good college. There are different cut-offs for all the branches. Your branch in the college is allotted to you according to your AIR (All India Rank). After securing your rank, there are seven rounds of counseling in which you are required to list your preference of colleges and if you have cleared the cut-off of that certain college, it'll be allotted to you. In my opinion, the admission process is as smooth as it can be considering the huge number of JEE aspirants.
Course Curriculum Overview
This course has interesting subjects like miro-processor, signal processing, control system to name a few. I chose this course because I'm interested in studying these topics. The placement is also quite good. The teachers are polite and well qualified. The teaching method is strictly textual so it can be a bit disappointing. Basically, the teachers are willing to help you if you want to study. There are two minors and one major exam in each semester held around the interval of one month approximately. Exams are a bit difficult but you can ace them easily by studying regularly.
Internships Opportunities
Students get a summer internship of two months in companies like Standard Chartered as Software Engineer. The stipend offered was around 40k per month. Most of the core companies do not offer internships.
Placement Experience
After the sixth semester, the students become eligible for campus placements. Various reputed companies visited our college like Standard Chartered, Amazon, Samsung, Deloitte. The average package is 7-7.5 LPA, the highest being 19-20 LPA. Around 80% of the students get placed. My plans after getting the degree are to get placed myself hopefully.
Fees and Financial Aid
It can be said that the fees is reasonable. There are different scholarships provided in our college. There's leeway in fees if your family is economically challenged. The average package offered is 7-7.5 LPA. Various reputed companies visit our college for recruitment. Standard Chartered, Microsoft, Amazon are some of them.
Campus Life
Utkansh, the annual fest, takes place in the month of march, and Techniti, the tech fest, takes place in the month of November. The library is very spacious and has just the kind of environment a student would need to study and concentrate. There are all kinds of books and journals available in the library. The classrooms are spacious, clean and most of them are equipped with modern technologies. There are many clubs that provide all sorts of extracurricular activities, like dancing, singing, music, theater, etc. You can join any of them according to your preference but it's not compulsory. There's a huge badminton court, football ground, and basketball court. Media cell is a club run by students.
Hostel Facilities
There is a shortage of space in girls' hostels. The washroom facility in the girl's hostel is subpar. There's a limited water supply at fixed times. A separate cupboard and table are provided for each girl in their rooms. The food of the mess is mediocre but you can eat your pick at any cafeteria. Most of the regional delicacies are available in our mess. To register for the hostel room, you just need to visit the hostel, pick the room of your choice and pay the hostel fee. In my opinion, the hostel fee is more than it should be, compared to the lack of the amenities provided.
