Remarks
The Admission to the only IIEST of India can be made through JOSSA Counseling thus by giving JEE MAINS exam. There are quite benefits of having reservations as like other universities. The admission process is made through online mode in Google meet.
Course Curriculum Overview
Exams are taken very frequently like in one and a half months tests are taken. Surprise tests are also taken quite frequently. The exam paper is moderate. Almost 50-40% of students pass the exams. Faculty are quite good and quite old(need replacement) but not good as IIT.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities are not that much in Iiest . Mostly the non governmental companies appear for giving internships. The institute does not much interest in giving free internship to all students.
Placement Experience
From 3rd year students are eligible for placement. Many reputable companies visit IIEST shibpur like Microsoft, Wipro, Dell, Tata, etc. The highest package is 55lpa and avg package is 8 LPA. 78% of students get placed and others opted for higher education. I am opting for higher studies.
Fees and Financial Aid
The cost to study in the only IIEST of India is almost the same as of other NITS of India. For students whose family income is above 5lpa (general/obc/ews) have tuition year fees of about 2 lakh per year. For students whose family income is below 5lpa and above 1lpa (general/obc/ews) have tuition fees of about 1.2 lakh per year. For students whose family income is below 1 lpa (general/obc/ews) and sc/st have full tuition fee waiver thus no need to pay tuition fees. The hostel fee is 30k for every student per semester. Scholarships are available from IIEST named GABESU. Job Opportunities are quite excellent like other NITS.
Campus Life
Fests includes: 1. REBECA - Reunion and Bengal Engineering College Annuals (cultural fest) 2. INSTRUO: Techno-Management fest 3. GYANDHARA: Open quiz fest 4. OKIOTANN: music, unity, freedom. And many more. First, Shibpur has Asia's 2nd largest journal library with more than 1lakh books, journals, patients, etc. The classroom is quite vintage-like other government colleges. Iiest has quite large facilities for sports which include swimming on the campus, basketball court, football court, etc. IIEST SHIBPUR has large numbers of clubs and societies like Catarsis(photography club), etc. Campus life is quite good and elite in IIEST shibpur.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels have common rooms. There are 18 hostels out of which 15 are boys and 3 are girls including pg and ug students. The hostels are named after previous principals of IIEST SHIBPUR. Hostels ate quite old and restoration is going on.
Interview Experience
The Admission to IIEST Shibpur is made through JOSSA Counseling by giving JEE MAINS exam. No interviews are taken. PWDs can't take admission to this institute. Preparation for Jee main can be made through self study or getting elite level coaching.
