Remarks
One has to give JEE MAIN examination and have to secure a decent rank(category rank except general candidates) to be able to eligible for this course. I gave JEE MAIN in 2021. There were 4 attempts in that year. I gave all the attempts to maximise my chances and it also give you confidence. To give JEE MAIN exam you have to register yourself in the official website of JEE MAIN (jeemain.nta.nic.in) when the application process starts. I have secured OBC category rank of 12143. The closing rank for OBC candidates for 2021 was 13547(for home state gender-neutral candidates). This was for B-tech Information Technology branch. You can find the application form and the fees structure in the official website of IIEST Shibpur. The application process was very smooth and the registrar officers cooperated with me.
Course Curriculum Overview
I have chosen the course because I love the branch. Information Technology is the newest branch of IIEST Shibpur. There is 1:40 faculty: student ratio.The faculties are very friendly and student-faculty interaction is very good. We have a total of 12 faculty members. Dr. Hafizur Rahaman, one of the faculty is a Member of VLSI Society of India (VSI), Senior Member of IEEE, and ACM Sigda. In a semester two term exams occur, Mid Sem and End Sem Exam. The question paper is standard.
Internships Opportunities
The college has made internships mandatory after 2nd year. That is you have to apply for an internship after 2nd year onwards. And college will arrange everything for this. Different big tech companies gave chances to sit in their internship test as per their CGPA criteria. It is a very good decision the college has made.
Placement Experience
From the 7th semester, students become eligible for campus placements. Companies like TCS, Amazon, Samsung , L & T, Microsoft, Infosys, Capgemini, Wipro, Cognizant, Bajaj, Reliance, and many other companies visits in every year. In 2021 total 580 offers were made. IT branch has almost 95% placement record.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees structure of the course is on the Official website of IIEST Shibpur. There is the facility of Tution Fees Wavier. One can apply for a fee waiver once the application process is done. They have to submit the annual family income certificate for this. There are members who will inform you of the different Scholarship details.
Campus Life
INSTRUO is the annual techno-management fest of IIEST. The college has its own library named Ramanujan Central Library. Different course books and other journals are there. It has 2 big grounds named Lord's ground and Oval Ground for outdoor games like cricket, football. College has a basketball court , Teble Tennis, Volleyball court, Swimming pool, Gymnasium, Chess club. We have societies for almost all departments.
Hostel Facilities
The Institute has 17 hostels including two girls' hostels for UG students and one girls' hostel for PG and research scholars. There are 9 multi-seated hostels and 5 single-seated hostels for boys. The meal quality is average. Institute has a different canteen and cafeteria for faculties as well as students.
