NMIMS Mumbai, B.Com {Hons.}, Accountancy

Remarks

To be eligible for B.Com (Hons.), you must have a minimum of 60% aggregate marks and mathematics or statistics is mandatory at 10+2. The application form, fees, and dates for 2022 can be found on the NMIMS NPAT official website. As far as reservation benefits are concerned, the only benefit I am aware of is that 30% of seats are reserved for women candidates to maintain gender diversity. As the BBA, B.Com, and B.Sc Finance degrees are highly competitive at NMIMS, I felt that the entrance NPAT exam was quite difficult. However, with around 4 to 5 months of practice, it gets easier to tackle the exam. One thing I would suggest to improve the admission process is by adding an interview component. To ensure that most well-rounded students are provided admission, it would be better if students were shortlisted for an interview post the exam and then admitted into the college.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I chose B.Com (Hons.) due to my interest in finance and accounting, and NMIMS is highly reputed for its commerce courses. I am unsure about the faculty: student ratio at NMIMS, but roughly I would say around 1:40. The faculty at NMIMS are highly qualified and knowledgeable. Amidst the pandemic, they have also ensured that classes are interactive and engaging. However, it depends on the subject, as some teachers may not be as interactive or interesting. We also had plenty of time to revise for exams as we had a break after a semester to study for them. The difficulty of the test is subjective, however, with practice, it will be easy to do well on them.

Internships Opportunities

3

At NMIMS, they have ample opportunities for students when it comes to placements as well as internships. A few companies associated with NMIMS include HDFC, Ernst & Young, White Hat Jr, ITC, Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd, etc.

Placement Experience

3.5

In the third year, students become eligible for campus placements. As I have not arrived at that stage, I do not have much knowledge about it. From what I have heard, placements are supposedly above average. Top recruiters such as Deloitte, Goldmann Sachs, and more come to the college, however very few get recruited by top companies. The highest salary package offered is 12 LPA, and the lowest is 3 LPA. After B.Com (Hons.), I plan to pursue work for 3-4 four years at a finance firm. Later on, I hope to pursue an MBA abroad

Fees and Financial Aid

As NMIMS is a private university, the fee is slightly on the higher end. However, this is subjective as it depends on your family's annual income. For B.Com (Hons.) and BBA, the annual fee is INR 2.1 lakhs. Whereas, the annual fee for BSc Finance is slightly higher (around INR 3 lakhs). In order to be eligible for a scholarship, students must be above the 80th percentile in class 10+2 and have a family annual income of less than INR 6 lakhs.

Campus Life

3

Due to the pandemic, I have not had much of an experience at the campus. However, the college has tried to keep students engaged through a plethora of events online. There is an annual and tech fest that takes place during the start of the year around February, depending on the club which is organizing it. There is an e-library and a physical library with numerous books from every field possible. For sports, students must go to the SVKM ground as the mithibai campus does not have space to accommodate a ground for sports. Common extracurricular activities that students take part in are student-led clubs. There are various clubs like entrepreneurship, tech, corporate, social responsibility forum, nature, sports, and many more. You can be a member of any of the above-mentioned clubs and can eventually go up the ladder to becoming president of the club.

Other Applied Colleges

St Stephen's | BSc Economics

As a business-oriented person,I felt that pursuing BSc Economics would narrow down my career options

At TCSC placements are quite good as anyone. Even the SOBO colleges and Mithibai don't have placements as good as us. So this is why I always dreamt of studying here because since last 6-7 years, Thakur College placements have gone better and higher.

The good thing is that the college was not strict and was never forcing us to study rather it was seeing to it that it gave us proper advice and help us reach more towards my career goal. The bad part would be there were may staff which was very dull and was not kind, and no importance was given to correct their behaviour although it was evident by all.
