NIT Trichy, You're going to enjoy it.

Best NIT out of all the NITs. Has a good EEE course but it's very rigorous and you need to be ready to give a LOT of time to your academics. Has a lot of opportunities, connections, clubs and just a whole lot of options to grow as an individual. NIT Trichy is represented quite well and is well knoelwn so you won't have a problem getting a placement, but you still have to work hard.

The faculty to student ration is good. I can't put a number on it but it's always possible to get a one on one with an approachable faculty, of which there are a lot. The faculties won't care about what you do until you approach them yourself for projects and other stuff, but if you do, you'll realise that NIT Trichy has some of the best and most qualified professors.

Lots of companies come for internships. I don't know about other branches but if you're in CSE, ECE or EEE, you have no shortage of opportunities. It's up to you to convert them. I wasn't able to, but I did get a VERY good one off campus. And I'm sure that I wouldn't have had it if it wasn't for the NIT Trichy badge. So yeah, work hard, there's more chances you'll get an internship than not.

Placements are good. And EASY. If you're in ECE or CSE. You'll probably end up in a good company with a nice CTC. EEE is a bit worse than them, but still better than most private colleges. Average package is around 11-12 lpa , median was around 15lpa , but this was in Covid where we somehow had a very good placement season. Most of the people who want to get placed do get placed. After EEE, it's pretty much downhill. Expect at best 6-7 lpa package average and a possibility of NOT getting placed. You're better off preparing for software or management if you're not in the above 3 depts.

For general and OBC, till 2021 batch, it was around 65k for tuition and 30k for hostel and mess. So assume 1 lakh per SEM. I don't think there is tuition fees for SC/ST students but you'll have to check that. There is provision for students who have family warning of less than 1 lakh per annum I guess but I'm not sure about if it's 1 lakh or 5.

You have a HUGE campus at your disposal. That is if you're a guy, if you're a girl you can't enter the boys hostel zone which is like more than half the campus. There are 27 hostels so you'll understand. Boys have essentially no curfew after the 1st year. Girls have one after 10. There are a lot of books in the library if you want to read. There are tennis courts, basketball courts, cricket ground, hockey ground, swimming pool, running ground, TT, carrom, gym and the other usual stuff. There are student project buildings like SCIENT if you want to work on technical projects which I highly suggest you do. There's also toastmasters if you're into that.
