NIT PATNA - a good choice

The good aspect about this college is that it is situated in the city. This is a good thing because everything is available easily. Most of the professors and faculty are good. The admission process was smoothly done. The fee is very affordable compared to other colleges. I am from Patna so it ended up being a good option for me. I did my research on Quora and understood the pros and cons. Overall CS/ IT in NIT Patna is worth it.

I was interested in Computers because I had studied the subject in my school as well. The placement scenario was also a factor in selecting this branch. A class of 70- 80 is the norm. This is split into half for the purpose of lab. Faculty to student ratio is adequate in my opinion. Most of the faculty are very qualified and good. Some of them have exceptional teaching methods. The exam is perhaps the most important event in college. Invigilation is very strict. Exams can be difficult to pass sometimes. But nowadays relative grading has been implemented.

The internship opportunities in college were very limited. Most of the people had to find internships themselves. Some companies like Yodlee came for internships with stipend around 20k. The project task was usually software development based.

Students become eligible for placement in 7th semester itself. Adobe, Samsung, Sabre, Capgemini, Accenture, Oracle, Amazon, OYO rooms, KPIT, Alstom are some of the companies that hired from campus. Almost every CS/IT student got placed. Most of the profiles were for software developer roles. Most people decided to work at the companies placed and then go for MBA or MS or M.Tech after getting some experience. Some even prepared for GATE Exam and AIR 1 was from our college in architecture.

The fee structure is the bare minimum with several scholarships for reserved categories. Hostel and accommodation fees are also reasonable. The fee hike policy is decided by MHRD. Job and placements are getting better and better with every passing year. Loans are also easy to get in order to pay for tuition fees.

There are 2 fests cultural and technical fest both usually held together in the month of January. Technical fest is called Corona and the cultural fest is called Melange. These are the most happening events of the year. Adequate books are available for all students in all courses. One need not buy books for college courses because there is a book bank from which you can get books for the whole semester. The classroom are usually adequate size however some of the buildings are old. CS Labs are air conditioned. Sports event is called intramurals. There is a Student Activity Center where holding such events is easy. The building is very equipped also. There are several groups like dance clubs, literary clubs, Illumaniti which are functional.

No the selection process is solely based on rank in JEE Mains. The counselling round is conducted by an organisation called JOSAA. The seats are allocated according to the preferences given.
