Entrance Preview

AIEEE RANK - 8136, DELHI GENERAL. Delhi Technological University is one f the bet engineering colleges in India. After going through several rounds of counselling for NITs and other colleges, I zeroed on DTU due to several reasons mentioned below - 1. Location advantage - Even though its located in the outskirts of Delhi, It still has the location advantage and is connected to the metro station of Badli which is just 1-2 kms away rom the college. 2. Explore varied interests - There is so much going on in the college apart from the academics that one can take up any activity as a hobby specially when so many clubs and societies are present. 3. Placements - The most important aspect of any college for all the students is placements. There are ample opportunities present for the students for placements. Internship opportunities on the other hand is far too less. Placements are above average as compared to the rest of the Engineering colleges and the average hovers around 6-6.5 LPA

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Curriculum is updated for a few branches like Computer Science, Mathematics and Computing, Software engineering, Information Technology, hence the placements are better for such branches while some of the branches which are mostly core like Electrical, Mechanical, Civil have obsolete syllabus. They are working on the current syllabus and expect it to change in a year or two.

Internships Opportunities

Yes it does, but there are a very few college internship opportunities present there. Companies that visit the campus for internships are Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, handful of software and coding internships. The stipend varies from 20K to 60K per month.

Placement Experience

4.5

There are ample amount of job opportunities at DTU with around 250 companies visiting the campus for placements. The profile varies from software coding profiles and core engineering jobs to consulting and business analyst. The average package hovers aroung 6-6.5 LPA, with the minimum offered by the mass recruiters such as Infosys, TCS which pays around 3.6 LPA to Goldmann sachs which offers 28LPA. Few companies visit offering more than 30LPA as well. A couple of companies offer international placements as well.

College Events

5

There are many cultural ad technical events that occur during the academic year. The biggest being the Engifest. Engifest - Its a cultural fest which goes on for like 3-4 days in the month of February. Celebrities such as Mohit Chauhan, Vishal Shekhar and Sunidhi Chauhan visited the campus during my academic period. Other major events include Miss India Prelims, Hasya Kavi Sammelan, Variety of dance and music events. Technical Fest - All the geeks and nerds come out of their shell to participate in this fest trying to create something different on their own and win the various competitions that are being held simultaneously. Life is pretty chilled out during the fests, infact it ill be one of the most memorable times of your college

Fee Structure And Facilities

Very feasible. Your entire B.tech will cost you around 4-5 Lakhs. Fee structure for the first year is costly as many first time security deposits have to be made and it costs around 1 Lakh. From second year only the tuition fess has to be made and it is around 65,000

Fees and Financial Aid

Loan facility is provided by the SBI for people with ow income families. The Interest n charged after the fourth year when the graduation is complete. I have no knowledge about the scholarships but there are none as such. The only scholarship that have heard about is for SC/ST candidates provided by the government.

Campus Life

4

Campus life is pretty great and is mostly chilled out and is not hectic at all. Its up to oneself what he/she wants to pursue. Gender ratio has improved a lot in the past from being 90:10 to 70:30 boys girls ratio. There are a few NRI and foreign national students and hence a little diverse in this manner otherwise you can find people form all parts of India. There are a lot of extracurricular activities which happen on a day too day basis. These include robotics workshops, coding classes, technical subjects important for placements and a lot more.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostels - Hostels are mostly for the students residing outside Delhi. Its very difficult to get a hotel if you are living in Delhi. I can only give you the details about the Boys Hostel, Boys Hostel - In the first year its on a sharing basis with 3 people sharing one flat which has two rooms and washrooms inside that flat. From the second year, you are moved to the senior hostel and its on twin sharing basis. You get our separate room in third and fourth year. Mess - Mess food is one f the cheapest and best ways to ensure your daily intake of food. The quality of food is quite good and the food is unlimited.

Alumni/Alumna

There is a big alumni network of DTU in every field and very helpful in guiding their seniors in terms of subjects and referrals. There is a special DTU alumni network website which helps us to connect to them directly and ask for job referrals or any other career related advice.

Exam Structure

Exams are conducted on a semester basis. In each semester there is a mid-sem examination which covers about half of the syllabus aand is generally for 20-30 marks. The format might have changed as of now as it was under a lot of discussion. The end semester examinations are of 70 marks and covers the entire syllabus. Again, this might have changed as of now. The exams for a few branches are chilled out while for a few such as EE and EEE iis pretty hectic. The exams are pretty chilled out after the 2nd year. 4th year is generally a piece of cake.

Faculty

3

The faculty of the college is pretty decent. The old faculty, i.e. the professors who were appointed before DCE was converted to DTU is still present and are pretty good in teaching and for research purposes. The new faculty who have joined DTU are of the inferior quality and somewhat are n a contractual basis for a year or two. They are mostly assigned to first year students which makes a bad impression in the initial days.

The placements of MAIT are decent as compared to market conditions. But the data shown on website or availble at various platforms is not the reality. The mass chunk of students who get a job are placed under and around 6LPA package.

When it comes to curriculum everything us fine accept 1st year curriculum. My branch is ece in 1st year i have to study chemistry and physics which is no use for anybody in future it is just waste of time pretty outdated. For 2,3 and 4th year curriculum is far better than what it is in 1st year. Odd semester starts form August and after 2 month we have to give midsem exam.1 month after midsem we have to give endsem. There is very short time period between midsem and endsem examinations.Even semester starts form January everything is same as that of odd semester.

Placements are good in DTU. Usually a student is eligible to sit in placements from 4th year. Last year 325+ companies visited the campus like google, abode, Amazon, Microsoft, zomato, samsung, maruti suzuki, etc. They all have made 2050+ offers. The highest domestic package was offered by Atlanssian of 82.05LPA. The overall average package was 16.71LPA. The average package of my branch (Production and Industrial Engineering) was 12.34LPA. And in tech branches like CSE, IT it was around 24-25 LPA. Almost everyone is allowed to sit for placements. In PIE branch around 60-65% of student got placed in on campus.
