Remarks

College was close to my home state and i was getting home state quota as well in JEE mains. The Ranking of NIT Rourkela is on higher side in our country and it was a major factor. The placements are good as well(mostly for CS EC EI EE). Campus was really good.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course curriculum is okay and academics is tough in NIT Rourkela. Students have to work hard to get CGPA above 8 and faculties are not that great in my opinion. Outdated study methods often put students in a pinch. Usually professors from branch like electrical are very famous for their unreasonable strictness and failing students. I wish professor here would be more lenient towards Students.

Internships Opportunities

3

Few companies come for internship process during pre final year. Like, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Barclays, Wells Fargo, etc. Providing stipend ranging from 20000-100000. But 10% get the internship and rest do projects under any IIT professor. I did vocational training in TATA Steel which was unpaid.

Placement Experience

3.5

Very few core companies are coming these days and they do prefer Mtech students over Btech. Software companies are in surplus and good number of analytics company do come as well. Placement is overall good here and tremendous for specifically CS and EC students. Generally 70-80% students get placed easily. Rest choose higher studies. I want to get job rather than opting for higher studies.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee Structure is pretty much same for any NIT or IIT in our country. They charge around 1lakh for each sem and their is fee waiver concept for financially unstable students and as well as quota students. I had a Scholarship from state government during these 4 years but our college does provide many scholarship for brilliant students and financially unstable students as well. Job placement is pretty good for CS EC EI EE branches and for rest branches the scene is okay. Core companies are lesser than analytics and software companies and the condition is pretty much same for other NITs as well. A lot total of 80% placement session can be seen every year in our college. Covid did affect the scenario a bit,but it's still lively.

Campus Life

3.5

Many fests are conducted in our college. There is Innovision for autumn semester and Nitrutsav for spring semester as the major fest conducted in our college. Many students outside our university comes here to participate and join us in the fests. Celebrity nights and many other events happen as well. Library is massive and any books related to every branch can be found here. We have advanced technology installed in the library to monitor the rental system. Students influx in library is huge even in non exam times. For regular classroom where different branches take part we have separate building and fir branch related lectures classroom are there inside branch building itself. Many sports fest are also scheduled round the year even among hostelers. Club live is what our college is well known for. We have probably more than 30+ actively engaged clubs in the campus including drama, social clubs, cooking, coding, automotive, etc. All these clubs are run by SAC (students activities cornor) which is also monitored by Students elected members.

Hostel Facilities

5

Hostel life is best here. Hostel fees are included in main fees. Except Monday every day is non veg day. Veg options are always available too. Usually from third year student live single in their room to focus more on their studies. But first and second years we share our room with another student. Bathroom facilities are nice. Hostels have gym, washing machine, study room, sports room as well. Another special thing is night canteens inside hostel to take care of your midnight cravings.

Admission

No, none of the process were conducted for admission. Simply JEE Mains score is the basis for admission. Based on the score we have AIRs and top branches are hence given to the higher scored Students. NIT Rourkela is one of the top colleges student fight for during admission.

The placement opportunities at KIIT are quite good, especially for us the CSE students. The eligibility criteria for campus placements starts from 7th semester. Many well-known companies visit the university every year like TATA Consultancy Services , Infosys, Wipro, Accenture and Capgemini. The average package offered is around 6-8 lakhs and highest package offered around per yr avg is 50-60 lakhs. The percentage of students getting placements is around 90% plus in average per yr. After completing my degree, i plan to work in software industry and gain more experience in the field of technology

I would rate the placements at my college as 3 out of 5. Students usually become eligible for campus placements from the sixth or seventh semester, and a few well-known companies do visit the campus every year. The placement cell helps with basic training like resume building and interviews, and many students, especially from IT branches, manage to secure jobs. At the same time, the average salary packages are not very high and top roles are limited, so a lot of students also focus on skill development, off-campus opportunities or higher studies after completing their degree

Students are eligible for placement from their 3rd year onwards. It has been only 2-3 months but I have seen several companies arriving at the college, prominent ones being Flipkar,Deloitte, Xerox, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Microsoft, Dell and several others including startups. There is no accurate data on how many offers have been made this year, but there are rumours that more than 95% of the eligible students have got placements. After getting a degree my plans are if I dont land into a satisfying job then I will start my preparation of the military or start a new business.
