Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram, is a Deemed University under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. The admission in IIST Thiruvananthapuram is done based on GATE/ JEE Main/ JEST/ UGC NET/ CSIR NET scores. For admission to IIST Thiruvananthapuram for M.Tech candidates must clear the GATE/JEST/UGC NET/CSIR-NET exam in relevant areas. A minimum of 60% marks is required in B.Tech/B.E/Master of Science or any equivalent degree followed by GD and PI rounds. You can fill the admission form from the college official website.

The curriculum is the blend of modern and traditional education altogether. The curriculum not only gives you theoretical knowledge but also practical based education.

The internship program of the college is good you can also opt internship program outside the college. Most of your internship will be in ISRO and you are not provided with a stipend but the learning that you get is more valuable.
Placement Experience
The placement record of the college is good. It is also the fact that most of the placement from this college is to ISRO. But companies like Mercedes Benz, Viz Experts, Mahindra and Mahindra visit the campus for placement derive. The highest package for our batch was 12.50 LPA and the lowest was 7.80 LPA. The placement committee is very hardworking and supportive.
Fees and Financial Aid
The scholarship to SC/ST/PD and underprivileged students is available. Scholarship on a merit basis is also available. Education loan facility is also available and the admission department completely supports throughput the loan process and all the documentation is done through the admission department.
Campus Life
The campus is very big and the administrative staff is cooperative and supportive. The campus is well maintained. The library of the college is full of knowledgeable books and international journals. The campus has a cricket and football ground, badminton, tennis, basketball, volleyball court. The sports activities and the fest in the college keep students busy throughout the year.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel rooms are spacious and ventilated. The rooms are available on sharing basis mostly 2 or 3 students are there in one room. The rooms are very clean and the warden makes sure that the standard and decorum of the hostel is maintained. The menu of the mess is diverse and tasty. All the basic facilities like furniture, game room, LCD TV, Table Tennis, Carom, and Chess is available for students.
Faculty
The faculty of the college is very professional but friendly. They are aware of what they are doing and experts in their field. The teaching methods of the faculty is very clear and straight forward they guide the student throughout the year properly and help the student to understand the concepts very easily.
