Course Curriculum Overview

4

Fitst of all the course is offering ECE with specialization in avionics which itself is a big deal to study at IIST because you have access to the India's most precious and next-gen technology. The curriculam not only focuses on academics but also prepare you for real world challenges like communication skills and many other things like Drone workshop, rocketry workshop and many more workshops to use the aaplication part of gained knowledge. Also as there are many fests organised in the college so you also get hand on chance of working and handling with a team and fest respectively. I think the course cirruculam should have to impeove because it focuses on traditional methods of teaching rather than imtroducing A.I. as a full-fledged course which will include topics like Machine Learning, prompt engineering, 3-D animations using AI, how to improve the creativity of an AI language model and many other topics. The frequency of exams is like mid-sem, after two monthsof starting of any semester then we have end-sem exams at the end of a semester which is like 5 months after starting of a semester. We also have marks based on the internal assesment which includes marks of your class tests which happen before mid-semester exams and projects which happen before a month of end-semester exams and assingnments and class activities whuch are given on regular basis. I think the time-gap or we can say the relaxation time between two exams of mid-sem should have to be increased so that we can manage our stress level and also as i mentioned already, the difficulty of exams is easy to moderate level which means you can score a very well marks evwn if you started study 1 month before exams. Inrest of the time you can explore many events and workshops and work on your skills like coding, singing, dancing, literature, finance, social-well being, debates and MUN's and many more provided by the institute in the form of Clubs activitues

Students at the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) typically become eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester (4th year) of the B.Tech program. This is when most companies and organizations begin conducting placement drives, and students are expected to have gained sufficient knowledge in their core fields. Companies that Visit IIST for Campus Placements & Offers Made Given IIST's close association with ISRO and the aerospace industry, many of the companies that visit the campus are linked to space technology, avionics, and related sectors. Here’s a general list of the types of companies that have visited IIST for placements: 1.ISRO is the largest recruiter from IIST, offering roles in research, satellite development, and mission operations. Many students are offered direct placements into various ISRO centers. 2. Private Aerospace and Avionics Companies: Tata Advanced Systems Boeing India L&T Defence Honeywell Aerospace Airbus Group Antrix Corporation 3. Electronics and Semiconductor Companies: Intel Qualcomm Texas Instruments Analog Devices 4. IT & Software Companies (for ECE/Avionics): Wipro TCS Infosys MathWorks The number of offers made depends on the batch size and demand in that year, but ISRO typically recruits the most students. Other companies offer anywhere between 10 to 25 placements depending on the job profiles. 1. Highest Package: The highest package offered to IIST students in recent years has been around ?15-20 (LPA). This is typically offered by private aerospace companies such as Boeing, Airbus, or tech giants like Intel. 2. Campus Life

3

Our college has a cultural fesh by the name of "Dhanak"and a technical fest by the name of "Conscientia". The Cultural fest happens in the month of March and the technical fest happens in the month of october. The college also celebrates some feats other than this which includes both cultural and technical but these two 'Dhanak and Conscientia' invites people from outside the collge. Our library has a wide range of books including many journals written by the researchers of our own college. The accesbility of books is very easy. The library is full air-conditioned with a very silent environment and the reading room is also available till night 2. You can also borrow a book from library but you have to issue it again on your name after the month gets completed. The classrooms of IIST are very clean with a design of sound absorption walls which is very fascimating. There are both types of class rooms 'Air conditioned and fans'. The classrooms are very big and spacious with a very good furnitute and elevation level of the floor so that the backbenchers could also see the board. Every class also has projector installed so that teachers could teach using PPT and as obvious there is mic-system in every class. The IIST has its own football, basketball, badminton and cricket ground. The kabaddi and kho-kho grounds are preparing. The IIST also provides free gymnasium facilities obviously not protein powder but machines and weights to use without money. IIST also has clubs activities like any other college like Music Club, Dance Club, Social-Well being club, Yoga Club, Rocketry Club, Finance Club, Quiz Club, Literature Club, Movie Club, Drama Club, Debate and MUN club and many other clubs. IIST also has many portals like IIST Canteen services, IIST Library Portal, IIST Student Portal, IIST student moodle page and etc.

Hostel Facilities

4

The IIST has room accomodation of three people for 1st year students. The rooms are very spacious and clean including 3 almirah, three cot, three table-chair for a room and also the tube-lights are in the room which are taken care by the hostel warden. The room has sufficient amount of electric sockets. You can also chanege your room, you just only have to write a mail to hostel warden and student well fare faculty. The meal at IIST is made by keeping in mind that both North and South Indians could eat it. The menu is repeated after every 2 weeks and some of the diahes are Butter Paneer, fried Chicken, Malai Kofta, Butter Chicken Masala, Maggie, Noodles, Pav-Bhaaji, Dosa, Manchurian, Curd, Milk, Tea- coffeee, Pulses like Arahar, Chole, Rajma and many other. The hostel is provided by the Institute itself with an affordable price of 15,000 per month. No, you can't rent a PG outside the campus as much as you are a B-tech student. I don't know about M-tech people but PHD people can rent a PG outside.

Admission

As i am JEE Advanced qualified student, i have many options in JOSAA counselling like i am getting Mechanical in IIT BHU, Civil in IIT Goa, chemical in IIT ISM Dhanbad and also chemical in IIT Bhubneshwar but i choose IIST over those colleges because as I mentioned it is focused on academics and this institute has labs better than any other college in India also the I am getting ECE branch here that is why. Yes i got rejection from many IITs and NITs because my rank was not too good to be there. Our college has a very simple admisaion process, from what i remember, you have to fill the counselling form of this college which opens during the time of JOSAA counselling but on its own website. Then as the counselling starts if you got a seat then you have to pay the seat acceptance fee amount but if you didn't get one then you can wait for spot rou d which will have a high chances for your selection for that you have to pay an extra amount over seat acceptance fees. The eligibility criteria of more than 75 percent aggregate in 12th is not there but you should have to be JEE Advance qualifier. There are no other exams for getting admission in this college, the only exam which you have yo give is JEE Advance and the minimum criteria is the passing marks

Faculty

5

The IIST has a very good student-faculty ratio o think it was about 1:8 which is very good as compared to IIT's and NIT's. The faculties here are very good, they are always open to approachable but keeping in mind they are professionals, there are some fixed timings to meet them. There have also been mentors assigned like for every 3 students a faculty mentor is there to look on them,to mainatain the transparency. Personally I like the faculty of newly introduced course EVE, K.G. Shreejalaxmi mam beause ahe is teaching in this institute since its starting i.e. since 2009. I mean every faculty in this institute is top notch there is no concern about academics. They are teaching in this institute from a very long time. I don't know much about the M tech and PHD programmes but because of new NEP policy, there happens mid-sem exams and End-semester exams carrying a weightage of 30 and 50 percent reapectively. Before this policy, there used to happen two quizes at the place of Mid-semester exams. Other things like assingnments and projects are same. Every course provides some assingnments which we have to submit before the deadlines on the moodle page of IIST. The college is really focused on communication skills of student, there is one dedicated course on it which is really very very helpful in every aspect whether you want to go for higher studies or you want to do job. The exams are obviously easy as compared to what we have faced in JEE Advanced. The level of Exams is Easy-Moderate considering all subjects. I don't know much about the failing of students because the faculties try their best to teach students. If some students were not good at any of the subjects then Remedial classes are arranged for those students and the faculty teaches himself not any PHD guy. The course is focused so much on space -technology. The courses like Introduction to Space Science and Environmemtal Engineering are also there to teach us about space.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the EEE course curriculum around 8-8.5 /10 in terms of relevance. The curriculum provides strong fundamentals in core electrical engineering subjects and prepares students well for core jobs and higher studies. The course curriculum was revised in 2023, and our batch is the 1st batch under the new curriculum. however, there are still limited coding ,AI and data science subjects in EEE ,which could be improved. Exams are conducted times per semester and are generally moderately difficult.
