Prakash Rathod's Review On Sydenham College Of Commerce & Economics, Mumbai

Sydenham College is one of the best college in Mumbai for opting 3 Year Graduation Course. My time during College was enjoyable yet a very good learning experience. Faculties were very helpful and Management was pretty much satisfactory.

It gave any entrance examination so to speak as Admission is on the basis of how much you will score in your SSC examination i.e. 10th Grade conducted by Maharashtra Board. Once I had satisfactory score I was able to apply in Sydenham College upto 12th Grade i.e. HSC examination also conducted by Maharashtra Board. Afterwards my college provides 3 Year Bachelor in Commerce Degree course provided by Mumbai University which is the most popular and beneficial to learn the Business, Economics, Accountancy on in-depth basis.

Course curriculum was pretty much linear and straightforward as per the guidelines of UGC. I was able to catch up easily as I was already studying the basics in my HSC studies.

3 Year Degree Course does not provide any Internship experience. It is purely based on your performance and once you have the Degree you have to look out for the Job on yourself. As my College was Government College and Course was as per the UGC guidelines they don't provide any Internship or Stipend.

As I mentioned earlier we didn't had any placement opportunities at the college however once you have your Bachelor's Degree you can easily get the job in the outside world. There are many opportunities. You can either join in as Assistant executive post or you can prepare for Public Sector jobs like becoming IAS officer by giving UPSC examination or Sub Inspector at CBI post by giving SSC examination.In most Public Sector and private organizations Graduation is the minimum educational criteria. So this 3 Year Graduation course will definitely help you to get your desired Job.

Though Sydenham College is a Government College but its famous for its college events as well. College has many groups and departments where you can join and take part in various college events.Sydenham College has the Biggest event called "Brouhaha" which is an annual event where students get to share different experience. The event has many themes, games which students can take a part in. Students from others college can also take a part in the event. So its a great experience.

Fee is very much affordable for the students as Government Colleges have very low fee structure which most of the people can manage. There is even more reduction in fees for the backward castes. So students from all the castes and background can afford the education.

No. I was not offered any Scholarship or Loan facility by the college.However Scholarship, Free ship facility is available for backward castes as per the Government's rules and regulations.

There is tons of extracurricular activity in our College. We have Table Tennis, Carom, Gymnasium, Volleyball, Basket Ball, Chess facility within College. College also has Cricket Team which competes in Inter College Cricket Tournament. We also have good library facility where lots of study material is available. Male to Female ratio is very much satisfactory. College does have high tolerance with regards Gender, Ethnicity, Religion.

Our College didn't had any hostel facilities but We do have Cafeteria which is one of the excellent in the area.There is one Government Hostel facility available just opposite of the college and Its very much affordable. Since its not part of the college I cannot comment on the its facilities, quality of rooms etc. But Students who do opt for have mostly given positive opinions.

College Seniors are helpful whenever there is any need of intervention by them. Seniors often help fellow Juniors in Academics, Activities etc.We had seniors arranged extra lecture for us in order to cope up with the exam strategy and syllabus.

Exam structure is as per the rules and regulation provided by UGC.As Sydenham College is Government College it has to adhere to the laws stated by UGC for conducting an examination. Exams days were pretty much serious. You can definitely feel seriousness around you when exams times are nearby.

Faculties were excellent and they provide adequate attention required for you to understand the particular subject. They were always co-operative and helping if we had any setbacks or difficulties.
