IIIT Surat Review

IIIT Surat is recognized as the institute of National Importance under the act of Parliament. IIIT Surat is operating from a temporary campus of Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT). The admission is based on the JEE Mains exam and you have to take part in the counselling process of JOSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) and the candidate must pass 10+2 with PCM with a minimum of 50% marks and 45% for SC/ST students. After the counselling with JOSAA I was offered a seat in IIIT Surat after doing some research I found that the college only provides a B.Tech degree and I felt that it would be a great place to focus on our studies.

The curriculum is divided into 8 semesters. The curriculum is designed to impart knowledge of computer science among the students and develop their communication skills to establish leadership qualities among the students. The first 3 semester focuses on theoretical knowledge and the last 5 semester focuses on research work and practical knowledge. AS the college only provided a B.Tech program so the teacher and student interaction are also very fruitful and helpful for students.

The college also provides internship programs after completing the second year. I also opted for an internship program but from outside the campus. It depends on the choice of the student to opt for an internship from outside the campus or from the companies that visit the college campus. The stipend depends from company to company I opted for an internship outside the campus because I was receiving a good amount of stipend of Rs 50000/- for my 4 weeks of the internship program.

The placement record of the college is good as we all know that the IIITs placement are well known and they are hot favourites of recuriters. IIIT Surat is a new member of the IIIT family and the placement committee works really very hard to attract a good number of companies. We will participate in the placement drive this year. So as per last year placement which was the first-ever placement drive of the college, 40+ companies visited our campus and 72% of CSE students and 63% of ECE students got placed. companies like Microsoft, Rubrik, Adobe, Amazon, Directi, Lowe’s, American Express, TCS, Deloitte etc took part in the placement drive. The highest package went up to 41 LPA which is an amazing offer for a student and for a college in its first-ever placement drive the average package went up to 9.47 LPA.

The fee of the college is high as it is based on the PPP model. The scholarship is provided by the state or central government if you are eligible. To know more about the scholarship program you have to visit the campus or you can also visit the official college website.

As currently, the campus is operating from Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) so students of IIIT Surat can also take part in SVNIT fests. IIIT Surat has also conducted the sports events like the IIITSCT cricket tournament, volleyball tournament, and many such fun-loving events. The campus life of the college is a blend of Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT).

The hostel rooms are big and spacious. At the moment the mess is shared with SVNIT so basically the mess of Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) and IIIT Surat is the same. The rooms are equipped with beds, almirahs and study tables. One room is shared by 3-4 students. The hostel is equipped with all the basic facilities according to the comfort of the students.

The faculty of the college is good. The guest faculty from Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) visit our campus as it is mentored by SVNIT. The college faculty are friendly and are well experienced. the faculty properly motivate the students and help students in research work also.
